m3 -honey- info?
Posted by Anonymous on Sunday, January 4, 2004 6:09 AM
Does anyone of you guys have any info regarding the british m3-honey- used in North Africa. Specifically the color scheme. I have seen photos of the real thing on the net and all are black and white, are there any known facts that they used the light blue and desert-sand scheme?(like the one on the box art of the academy honey kit) Thanks in advance!Smile [:)]

The New Vanguard Series book on the M3/M5 (Zaloga) contains some information on this paint scheme. It's still in print and can probably be found on Amazon or at a local book store. HTH.

Beans

The Brits sure did use blue on some vehicles during the Desert Campaign, not just on the Stuart either. I remember reading that the Acadamy instructions say to do a two tone scheme but actual photo's of the depicted schemes, though black and white, clearly show 3 colours - the yellow and blue, but with green on top of the turret and cupola. I think that this is confirmrd in the Squadron 'In action" book on the Stuart/Stuart Honey, but just about any book I have seen on the stuart will have the pics of the vehicle.

See this pic for hints:

Thanks Kaleu for the info and Petbat- the link did'nt work on me also but thanks for the confirmation, it just seemed a bit strange for me why they painted it blue. When they could have just left it in the desert sand color. So I guess this is my signal to go ahead and paint my m3-honey- thanks againBig Smile [:D] But keep em' comin'
Erock- thanks for the link it was great and the photos tooThumbs Up [tup]
