basicaly its just the normal Panzer IV with an Eduard Zimmerat set
so looking on a UK web site the normal
Pz IV J with the zim kit your talking about is £39.99

Pz IV J is £25.99

Pz IV H is £23.99 (i dont know why its cheaper than the J, its basicaly the same kit)

the Eduard Zimmerat set for the Panzer IV is £9.25

so you could get them both for £35.24 for the J
or £33.24 for the Panzer IV ausf H (basicaly the H is the better one becouse its got the Shulzen with it )

so i think the Tamiya kit with both is a bit of a Rip off when you could get them both Separately for alot cheaper and most Panzer IV Js didnt have Zimmerat
if you look in the Panther group build some in there are using the Panther Zimmerat kits

the Panzer IV is a good kit, just get the normal one, and if you want Zim do it your self or get one of the many zim kits out there or you could go for the Ausf J and you dont kneed to zim it Big Smile [:D]

What part of the UK are you in ?

I wasn't too keen on their zimmerit for my Panther. It kind of lacks depth and looks too uniform.

I agree with tigerman. The eduard zim is very uniform and has no worn look to it at all. I did use it though and the only problems I had was with the larger pieces and getting them glued down right before the glue set up.

Do the Zimmerit yourself.

Weather you do it with past/putty or with a hotknife, you can do a much more realistic job than what you would get from the PE Zim set.

I agree with Jon. The H is the kit that really needs the Zim. Only the very early H's didn't have it. Most J's didn't have it but some of the early J's did. If your building a specific tank then you will have to verify weather it did or did not.

But, the Tamiya PzIV is jam-up. Much better than the Dragon IMHO.

Tamiya also has the Panzer IV G with the Eduard PE set. Here in the U.S. listed at $40-$50 USD. I do agree with Jon it's a rip-off.

I,m making the Tamiya Panther with zimmerit. and I must admit I feel a little dissapointed (and I paid rip off UK prices :- £37) Sad [:(]
Gotter.Smile [:)]

ps The zimmerit does seem a little flat and I,m not sure the pattern matches the time period. (From my references Panther G,s had diagonal cross hatching).
I dunno about the Pz IV,s zim I havent seen it so I can,t comment.

There's a Tamiya panzer IV ausf. j. in a hobbyshop here that is sold for about 500pesos approximately about 10-usd. But the kit was dated -1994-. Is it still the same (accuracy wise)as the newer versions of this kit?
