Big Cats Update ( and now pic of completed Tiger )
Posted by Anonymous on Tuesday, January 6, 2004 5:30 PM
Here's my nearly completed Tiger I (a 1/72 kit from Revell), soon to find itself on a little piece of cold and snowy Russia..

There's a pic of the completed model in its little diorama on page 2...
And here's my latest build, Hasegawa's 1/72 Panther G

Hope you like them..!

Great Tiger Betty. Love the winter whitewash and weathering. You should get that Panther in the Panther Group build and show it off. Thanks for sharing the pics.

Then you say "Oh, it's missing bits honey, you'll have to choose another one" he, he ........ Oh oh, she heard........err... um.........just joking Betty, we didn't mean it. Okay, see you in the doghouse in 5 minutes DJ!)

Karl, you have to read between the lines there. She really said..."You should have bought 2, the second one being a kit I want to build and will snatch off your shelf when I choose." Wink [;)] Big Smile [:D]

Really good work on your Tiger though Betty! And moving right along on the Panther too! Does Domi HAVE any kits left???? Wink [;)] Maybe that's why you want him to stock up?? Big Smile [:D]

Thanks everyone. I am quickly learing why Tena loves building tanks so much!

Yes Frosty it is Great. I am very pleased I decided to share Domi's love of modeling.

Many many thanks to you all, I am so excited I have the base almost done for the Tiger! I am gonna work on it again tonight after our evening meal!

And here is the completed little diorama with my first ever armor model...!

This vehicle belongs to the 1st SS Panzer Division Leibstandarte Adolf Hitler, fighting in the Kharkov area (now in Ukraine) during the winter of 1942-43.

The base is a little picture frame with expanded polystyrene and Paris plaster to create the 'landscape', over which I applied Baking Soda and hair spray. The road sign is plastic card and a bit of a cocktail stick... I applied some Paris plaster, wood glue and baking soda onto the tank as well, although this is mostly confined to the lower parts of the hull and the tracks.

I'm enjoying myself tremendously!
