Attention: Modelers in the Philippines
Posted by Anonymous on Wednesday, January 7, 2004 7:40 AM
Hi. I have been trying to find the equivalent of "Future Floor Polish" here in the Philippines without success.

I live in the ParaƱaque area and looked at specialty hardware stores like Ace Hardware, but they don't seem to that brand nor anything similar.

A point to the right direction will be heartfeltly appreciated. Smile [:)]

BTW, has anyone able to acquire the Italeri 1/35 M1A2 Abrams? Been looking for that for several months already also without success.

Thanks.

Waiting...(looks around while tapping right foot) =)

Well, after a few hours of surfing the web, I may have found the solution to Future already...now a heads up on that elusive Italeri M1A2 would really be helpful!

BT6, I have been searching for the equivalent of Future here for some time now. But the nearest product to it is (or was) Pronto Acrylic Clear Liquid Floor Wax. However, it is no longer marketed here (I think). Pledge furniture spray is also considered an equivalent. There is however a product by Johnsons (a floor wax) in liquid form that is white but dries clear. I have bought one but haven't tested it yet.

As for the Italeri M1A2, I haven't seen one yet but Dragon's M1A2 are a plenty and costs only about P395.00 a box.

Good luck.

May I add.... I think you guys better look for any Acrylic floor polish by J&J & maybe that's as close as you can get to Future.

I have 4 big bottles of Future. But this is the supply which we use during club build ups. Maybe you can join us during our builds. I got it from the States.

I have tried the pledge furniture polish and it works fine for me. I also saw some future floor polish at Cash&Carry quite some time ago.

Hey guys, Swanny over in the ahem.....Aircraft side of things......... did a piece called "The Complete Future". I think it is a stcicky in one of the tips/tecniques forums because of the ongoing interest in it.

Anyway, in the piece Swanny has detailed all the different names he has found that Future can be found under, around the world, as well as details of comparable products. Check it out and you my find something that you can get locally.

Hey Dwight,

I already have the DML version of the M1A2...as well as their Mine Plow version , USMC M1A1HA, and their 1st Marine BTN M1A1OIF...also got Trumpeter's M1AHA, another with the mine roller, and a pair or M1A2s ...not to mention Tamiya's M1A2.

For some reason, I've become obsessed with the M1 (duh) Big Smile [:D].

Based on reviews on the web as well as my assesments if the kits I have on hand, the Italeri version may be the most accurate.

I bought a bottle of "Wipe and Shine" ( I think) as recommeded by other modelers as an alternative to Future . I dipped a canopy of a junked X-29...anybody know how can I remove it?

Thanks!

BlackThor6:

I can see that you are quite an M1 fan like me. As for me I only got 3 M1's so far. Academy M1A1, DML M1A1-HA, and DML M1A2(still unbuilt). I like the Tamiya M1A2 but it's a bit too expensive for me. I may just have to wait for a while and save for it.

Good luck.

Tamiya is indeed too expensive compared to the other brands...I really don't know what compelled my to scoop it up the very second I saw it (just fooling myself, it's a denial thing from an M1 addict)...

Seriously, the reason I got the Tamiya is for the intricate details of several parts (like the CIWS, muzzle reference sight, CITV, MCD, and APU) are really astounding.

Sadly the anti-slip surfaces on the hull and turret were not molded...IMHO, it would've been the best M1 model, if they did not leave out that so conspicious a detail.

The main reason I got it was to cannibalize its parts..would you beleive it?

Mike,

IPMS-Philippines-Bert Anido holds quarterly internal competitions/exhibits. We'll be having a contest this coming March entitled "Enter the British" showcasing, well, British (British-made/designed) subjects. Come May we'll be having the Second Bert Anido Cup, focusing solely on PAF subjects. A Nationals contest is currently in the works, but the exact date is yet to be decided.Wink [;)]

Check out http://www.ipms-phils.50megs.com. Its currently being updated, but will be good within the next few days. Thanks!

You bought a Tamiya M1 just to cannibalize it? Wow.

I agree with you. The Tamiya M1 could have been the best if they have included the non-slip surface finish.

Well...it would've been a waste of good parts if they are part of a bad base.

My ultimate goal I building the Abrams is to combine the best of all the current M1 kits into one model.

Now if the Italeri version becomes available here...then I'm one happy modeler. Big Smile [:D]
