THE BIG CHEESE!!! - Monty Python
i dont see the point in collaberating with cmk for the tools and bits, i think its lazy and tight fisted of tamiya.
they have more than enough means to do em themselves.
I'll probably pick it up! I really like the lines of the 38t and the lineage is very apparent in the 35t.
Eric
I admit that this doesn't do anything for me, but it's refreshing to see Tamiya think outside the box. I really thought they would've come out with a Crusader in 1/35 by now, since they released a 1/48 version. They've been pretty consistant on this.
I'll wait to see what the reviews have to say about this in terms of the build quality...I thought CMK only did resin, not styrene, kits so this may have some promise depending...but I'm skeptical.
BP Models
Bill, CMK originally made this kit back in the late 90's (98 or 99 somewhere around that time). I picked up one of these at a contest and if I remember right it had some fit issue with it, but was an alright model once built up. The tracks still have to be replaced as the details suffered from injector pin marks. I still don't understand why tamiya would rebox an old kit instead of making a new on, after all they have the means to do so.
Chris
That's what I was afraid of Chris, I recall hearing about a CMK offering but wasn't sure if it was all resin or styrene. Reboxing it and adding in a figure and some Tamiya tools won't be enough to entice me into this one. MK offers a set of replacement tracks but if it's the same exact molds from the '90s with a 2010 price tag, I will pass.
I think I will have to pass also, if tamiya were to make an all new tooled kit, then I'm game. But to rebox an old plastic kit from way back and knowing current price tags for tamiya kit, not worth it. But it's still nice to see this kit back on the market as it's the only plastic 35t even avialable, just have to wait for another contest to see if I can crab one for a cheap price.
I have much intrest in this kit depending on reviews. I have much intrest in early armor but there is not much out there of any real quality. The CMK kit was one of my first kits about a year ago. It had several fit issues, large gaps and very poor tracks. It eventually produced a tank but was not much to brag about.
I have planned to go back and upgrade this Skoda, still might, but will see how much different the Tamiya will be.

I'm thinking this is going to be a rebox judging by what the page says. I'm not impressed at all. I've tried to build the CMK kit and it is a pain. The parts look fine, they just don't like to fit correctly. Its been sitting 50% complete it's box for the last year....

Well alrighty then, proof we learn something new everyday. I thought it was gonna be a new release.
I guess I’m lucky I found a CMK kit for half the price of the Tamiya one, I know I will still have issues with the quality either way, I was going to convert it to a Romanian R2 in the end.
It's a completely over-priced trick by Tamiya. It a very poor kit, with a few small sprues of decent tamiya accessories. It requires new tracks (every single link has a GIANT crater-like mould mark that you won't be able to hide or fill), and luckily, lionmarc just came out with a brass barrel to replace the garbage one that comes with the kit.
Don't waster your money like I did!!!! I will be VERY cautious with Tamiya from now on.
Don't get me wrong, its better than the CMK one, because Tamiya replaces some stuff that needed replacing (MG, tools etc)... but I'd say its worth no more than $30 at the most... and $30 really should be the retail, rather than $45 or whatever bs price they charge... mainly because of the cost of the necessary replacements.

This is NOT a new kit as said above-it is the CMK kit. It is not a bad kit by any stretch, but does need some work. The kit barrel is useless, but I found a maker a few years back who did some fantastic brass barrels. Now I see that Armorscale is doing one. You WILL need the AS barrel. My avatar is actually this kit-my first completed build of 2011. I have three or four other kits and will definitely build them-they're fun (agreed that the kit tracks stink-I used Fruils) and fairly quick to build and you can add simple scratch build stuff to them to really dress them up nicely. The wheel assemblies were the only complaint that I had about the way that the kit was engineered.

Tamiya and CMK have a history of collaberating together. CMK came out with an Ostwind, early Sturmpanzer IV, Late Stug III, and Bergepanzer IV, based on older Tamiya molds. Nothing too suprising about Tamiya taking a CMK mold and dressing it up a bit.
