The only rumblings I've read about it is that the interior is only proper for one variant. I don't seem to recall whether it was the early, mid or late though. I won the mid production version in a contest, but there is some type of law preventing me from assembling a Tiger tank, so I traded it away.

It has recommended by many a member, so it must be good. I hear its kind of spendy though.

Mo,

I have the early also. I haven't started it yet. Too dang many group builds going on around here!! lol

The kit does look very nice. The parts are nicely detailed. And they give you a choice of rubber one piece tracks or indy link tracks. They parts look very nicely molded. Now the not so good news...the interior is supposed to be inaccurate, for any model. But closer for the Early. The toolers, understandably took some shortcuts and made some flat out errors. Go to missinglinks.com and then to their articles section. There you will find an article on accurizing both the early and the mid/late version. It all depends on how picky you want to get.

Good luck

This is definatly one on my to get list. I have found it on a site costing less than what the tamiya tigers cost and seeing how I want to do a tiger in the near future I plan on going with this one since it has an interior.

I think you'll like it, Chris. Check out that missing links article and you can decide how "technical" you want to get with it. Biggest problem I had with the article (other than there are no pictures for the one on the early and he refers to them a lot) is that all the sizes for plastic stock are in metrics, and I can't find any around here. I've converted them to SAE and gotten the closest I can, but sometimes, they aren't all that close. Still, I think it's going to be a nice build.

Here is the link for the Early build:

And here's the Mid/Late:

I've built it and it was a lot of fun. There are many great interior etc. shots of the Bovington Tiger being restored. Just click on http://www.tankmuseum.org/ and follow the links to the Tiger photos.

It looks like a really great buy for a Tiger.

I think the turret is inaccurately shaped though. Tiger turrets were slightly assymetrical, and the Academy kit does not capture that correctly. But then no 1/35th scale kit really does (unless some of the later Tamiya ones do -- anyone?). I assume the big Tamiya Tiger I has the correct turret. It better!

lito.sf hiSmile [:)],
this kit was my first a few years back after a 12 year sabbatical[:0], and to tell the truth i made a right fist of it!!Disapprove [V] i seem to remember some fit problems, but i guess from the other rave reviews the kit has rcieved that this must have been my own ineptitude!!
Sign - With Stupid [#wstupid]
one thing re the general shape: the turret is symmetrical, whereas tiger turrets in reality were not, but that won't detract from the project as a whole i think.
academy decals are notoriously poor, and here they live up to their reputationAngry [:(!]Angry [:(!]Angry [:(!]: not only are they thick and difficult to "lay" cleanly and without silvering, they have got michael wittmann's tank number wrong!![:0] for such a well publicised commander and tank (featured in many propaganda pics), i find it amazing that academy list the tank as "SO3", when it should be "SO4" - tamiya gets it right here by the way.
anyway, hope you have a good build; i checked out those missing lynx articles and their pretty cool so that should get you going! good luck!!Big Smile [:D]
regards,
nick
