Advertising on the forums
Posted by Anonymous on Wednesday, January 14, 2004 5:49 PM
I posted this in General Discussion, but since a couple of the posts I'm referring to were here on Armor, I'll put the notice here too.

Just a reminder, folks, that as a rule advertisements and offers to sell things are not allowed on the FineScale.com forum. I had to pull a couple of threads earlier today at the request of our Advertising department. The posters were individuals who had some old kits they didn't need and wanted to find a new home for them. No big deal, but if we start allowing some people to advertise, it starts undercutting the advertisers who pay for ad space (and the folks in advertising do rely on those sales for *their* livelihoods).

If you're not sure whether it's OK to something, take a look at the rules on advertising that we posted a while back.

To Mr. Hansen and All on this board,
I'm afraid I have to plead guilty to this charge. Although I did not initiate a thread specifically to sell, I did however make an offer to sell an item on a thread that was already started.
My apologieas to Mr. Hansen, the advertisers and all who use this board. I'm very grateful for this board and having access to all the help and information that I have received while using this board.
I assure one and all that I will never do anything like this again.
Sincerely,
Joe

Alrighit Joe, that's it...your fired, no...banned, no... just kidding!! Big Smile [:D] A well spoken apology and will be well recieved by all including the forum police administrators Wink [;)] That is what keeps this forum so nice when someone just sucks it up and takes the blame if they messed up and tries not to do whatever again. Good job, glad to share the forum with you.

I owe this forum an apology too. I answered 2 threads today without checking first and will make sure future posts are within this forum's guidelines.

Regards, Dan

Well, I admit to offering an out of production copy of R.P. Hunnicutts Sherman tank book for sale on this very forum about two weeks ago. I did ask that all concerned parties e-mail me for further info and details. Not sure whether this was against FSM policy. Hope not. By the way the book has been sold. Is confession good for the soul?

Lawrence originated this post because of the thread I posted yesterday with the rather long list of kits I was trying to sell. I am truly sorry and wish to apologize to Lawrence and the members of this forum for any offense I may have caused. It was an honest mistake, and I didn't even think about other advertisers, etc., and also didn't bother to check to see if there was a rule governing such a thing as kit sales.

I truly enjoy this forum, and the folks I've had a chance to meet, and I don't want to see it damaged, especially by me!

I ask y'all's forgiveness....

Thanks for puting up this thread before more of us did the same. I knew about the advertising rule, but I assumed that it was talking about comercial sales, and not a one time sale from one member to another.

erush,
Thanks for the kind words of support. I consider it a privilege to be able to access this board and to benefit from posting questions, reading replies and generally associating with other modelers. FSM users are among the very best I've encountered.
53ryder,
Yes, confession is indeed good for the soul. And not making light of the boards' policy, but glad you sold the book to some very lucky dude. They were very fortunate to get one.
Regards,
Joe
