Hobby Boss Canadian Leopard 2A6M colours EH???????
Posted by John Lyle on Friday, January 7, 2011 12:50 PM

I received this kit for Christmas. When I went to buy the paints, Model Master, the colours looked completelt wrong from the picture of the paint scheme that came with the tank. One colour was supposed to be some colour of "grey" but when I looked at the paint given by the Model Master number it was a pale green, even the corresponding humbrol colour was pale green and the name was definitely not the same as given in the kit paint key. What gives? has Hobby Boss goofed in telling us which colours to buy?

Anyone out there have the correct colours to use?

Yes John, HB did goof up on their direction some what. If you even look closer at the color guid you will see some sort of remote weapon systems which is not even of the real thing. When I built mine I used all of Tamiya's nato colors, green, brown and black. The best and closest you can find to the real deal for the nato tri-color scheme. For the slats I used Vallejo British tanker uniform highlight. Hope this helps some.

Thanks for the info. The problem now is trying to find the Tamyia NATO colours here in Nova Scotia. I have tried three hobby shops and all I have managed to get it Nato Black. One hobby shop called up his supplier to order them right away for me but he was told that they are out of stock due to high demand. I guess I'll just have to wait for the colours.

That tends to be the real problem with tamiya paint. The nato colors are the most used outside of dark yellow and be hard to find. Thankfully I get all my paint online since there is no dealers near me. I'm not sure what the testor eqivualant would be, you probably could use a medium green, homemade lighten black and red brown. In one of my magazines from tamiya, someone had paint an avrams with Vallejo paints USA uniform green with a small amout of green grey for base color. For the black he used black green and the brown was red leather. Seems strange, but once weathered it looks just like faded paint in the desert.
