Primer on AFV Club tracks?
Posted by Kentucky Colonel on Saturday, January 22, 2011 9:12 AM

I'm using the AFV Club tracks on my M1A1 tank. I plan to use Acrylic paints, mostly Vallejo on the tracks and wonder if I should put primer on them first. I have the Krylon primer from Wal-Mart. Is it safe to use on the AFV tracks? I've read that we have to be careful using the strong thinners around them and wonder if the Kryon primer is safe enough or should I just go with straight Vallejo paint and Pro Modeller washes or would Mig washes be better? I've had good results with Mig washes on the acrylic paints on the models but worry about the tracks.

I'm just trying not to burn the tracks up so please set me straight on this stuff. Thanks!!

I've avoided using anything but acrylics for the same reason you've mentioned. MM acrylics adhered fine w/o primer.
