If your going to make it a hill or something use that pink styrene foam board stuff. Make sure its not the bubble kind of foam because that just makes a mess.

If you use the foam board make sure you get a hot wire foam cutter too!

As for scenery sculptamold (similiar to celluclay). You can use stuff from yard like twigs roots pebbles etc.
Good luck on your Dios Approve [^]Approve [^]Big Smile [:D]Wink [;)]

take a look at all the cool dioramas on the internet. On some of these sights the guys will tell you some of their tricks. Alot of the stuff they use can be found around the house. The best tree s I ever saw were made out of twisted wire covered with clay then painted, using moss as leaves. one guy who gives alot of help is the Plastic Warrior. You can check him out by going to my profile. Shepard Paine has a book out. How to build Dioramas. You can find it in your local Library. Its great. I am starting to do one myself. Odd Balls Camp I am almost finished with my first of three Shermans and am still collecting junk to have in the camp. I will post it if i find it worthy. I figure it will take six months to do cause I am slow and don t have much spare time. I hope I was able to help.

Welcome Shermanfirefly..

This has been mentioned before I think, you can use a tree cross section found at arts and crafts stores...gives you a different look.

Cellu clay works really well as a ground material. As already mentioned, woodland scenics has some product that certainly helps.

And of course ... welcome to FSM ShermanFirefly. Good to have you join us here in the Armour Forum.

Enjoy !!!!

Welcome to FSM, ShermanFirefly and welcome to the armor forum.

In addition to what erock listed, you can also use plaster for the base. There are also chopping boards available that can be used as a base.

Good luck.

For a base, you could use a small piece of plywood or any other type of wood. I usually go to the local craft store. They have many different sizes and shapes, all ready to use.

As for grass and such.... I keep a supply of Woodland Scenics material handy (the stuff used for train layouts) They have different colored grass, sand and dirt. You just apply some white glue on the wood, spread it around and shake on the grass.

For rocks and pebbles, Kitty litter is the best (clean, of course) Wink [;)]

I am thinking of making a diorama for some of my 1/35 scale World War II models, but I'm not sure what to use as a base. Could anyone give me some ideas for what to use as a base and what could I use for grass, shrubs, trees...?
Any help would be appreciatedBow [bow]Confused [%-)]
