I haven't built a model in over 9 years. I picked a few kits at the local hobby store. The kits I picked up are the German 2cm Flak 38 MIT Sd.Ah.51 with a crew and the Pzkpfw IV Au sf. H (with armor) The Flak model and crew are from Dragon and the tank is from Academy. All in 1/35 scale. My question is would it be a good idea to paint the Flak by hand, since it is relatively small. And I would appreciate any advice. I did browse the forum, but I couldn't seem to find anything. I can't wait to re-connect with this awesome hobby! One last question from a newbie What are tags? THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!

welcome back
you can paint it by hand or spray it. I'd spray it then hand paint the weathering and tire colors and other details
also, pick up a bottle of super glue and liquid cement for styrene because tube hobby glue is rarely ever used anymore

Welcome back! I've sort of gotten back into the hobby as well (after a two year break though) I guess I've never known what tags were either, and if you still use hobby cement, I do too! (almost exclusively because nobody has ever switched me to the other side I guess...)

Welcome back.
I'm old fashioned.Rattle cans, bristle brushes and tubes of glue still work for me.
oh ok, I switched many years ago and haven't used the tube stuff since then. I use it for certain gap filling operations but that's it
So, I stand corrected, if you still use tube glue and it works for you, then don't throw it out
i always feel that an airbrush gives the best finish. Like mentioned, you can brush the detail parts.
back to the hobby.

Tigerman has it spot on imo!
As I've only been building for just shy of two years I obviously started out with Enamels and brushes - I got some good results too.
I've had my air brush for maybe 6 months now and the difference it has made is staggering. I've switched to Acrylics and the paint just lays perfectly. I always have my brushes close to hand though and they get plenty of use it for fine detailng, drybrushing, dot filtering; an endless list!
My airbrush was a true revelation on what I was missing and my work improved massively straight away: I got it brand new at a reduced price of £100 complete with a compressor and moisture trap. It's double action and spares are only a phone call order away.
Welcome back - it's a perfect hobby: relaxing, interesting, educational and exciting!
