Jeep Alright! Lets get started. I took another odysseyMap, this time to Harbor Freight  in Berlin CT, alone.  You can look up the address online. I know a lot of you guys   have   been to   Harbor freight in your neck of the woods but it was my first time.So coolTongue Out 2. I once   again just wanted "to look"Buggin . And look I did!!Bow Down Wave I ended up picking up a Central   Pneumatic Compressor that came with an air-brush for $79.99Tribal Dance. The compressor has a moisture trap,   regulator, is quiet, and can run from 0 psi to 58 psi. I've already used the compressor and air-brush with great resultsWoohoo!. I did pick up a dremel tool rip off for $6.99 and   some great miniature files and sculpting toolsSculpter. All told I spent   about   $94.00 dollarsShy Whistler. What great deals! Now, the trip home took about forty minutes  Dragster. Plenty   of   time  to plan   my smuggling operationNosy Neighbor. I decided to walk into the house with   a   small bag of my goodies leaving the compressor in my jeepSmart. When I got home she was out!!Wakka Wakka That means I was in!! As I was just taking the compressor out of my jeepEmbarrassed 2, my wife pulled into the   drivewayAfraid. I GOT CAUGHTElectric. Well..lets just say she wasn't thrilled.  T-Rex 2.I have been cooking so many mealsSalad that I should become a chefChef. To make a long story short, once again I was pardonedJudge. Soooo..the next day I went to HQ Hobbies in Milford....that story next time.... picked up another armor  model!!Tank 2

Keep it light and have funButt Dance

Daddy

If you ever drive down south to Broward County, go by RC Hobbies on McNab and University Dr located in the City of Sunrise.  That place is huge with a ton of neat stuff!BalloonsToast

The idea of a hobby shop with everything is just...too amazing for words!

That's exactly how I felt everytime I walked into Orange Blossom Hobbies on NW 19 Ave and 36 St.  in Miami. The place was HUGE. Any member here who visited this place will agree with me. I spent hours just looking at their merchandise. The guys that worked there were a pleasure to deal with. Unfortunately it went belly up back in the 90's.Crying

I drove about 35 miles to Marchets Hobbys in Lakeland FL ( their ad is in the directory in FSM ) . Sad news , they closed the doors in December after many yearsCrying.

A few days later went about 60 miles to Modelers Paradise in Largo FL. This place is stacked to the rafters with kits new and vintage, AM , tools ,everything. They are also listed in the FSM directory. Unfortunately, their hours have been changed from 10 -6 Mon- Sat, to 12-6 with no Sat. hours.

I was there on a Wed. at 10 am going to "browse" for an hour and head back home to pick my kid up from school . Needless to say , I didn't have the time to hang around for two hours till they opened . Wouldn't have given me the "browse" time I wanted anywayBang Head.

At least there's still 3 Hobbytowns within an hours drive for meSmile.

Nice to hear that you found a brick and mortar store that you like.  I feel quite lucky to have 2 only a 30 min drive away at most.  The kits prices may not be online "sale" low but are comparable if you add in the shipping prices from online retailers.

Long live the LHS!!!!

Yer right bbrownii, I guess it was my first time there and I was a little shellshocked! It is pricey. Still a nice place to "just look".

Time Machine is pretty impressive, but unfortunately, it is pretty much the only show in town for this part of CT. I say unfortunately because, even though they have a pretty wide selection, their prices are PREMIUM. It is frustrating to see a kit that has sat on the same shelf for the past two or three years gathering dust because it is priced $10 - $20 more than at an online shop. I do like to support my brick and mortar shop, but sometimes their prices are just too steep.

That being said, I usually stop in there a couple times a month (I teach down the road) and will typically pick up some glue or paint.

Truth be told, I get the sense the store puts more energy into the RC and the model railroads than to the models.

Still, despite its shortcomings, it is a cool place to visit.

Skip the add on of smileys not provided by this forum...they are distracting and make it hard to view/read your post.

Can you tell us the name of this place and where it is?

It is 'The TIme Machine' and it is in Manchester, Connecticut.

Woman In RollersThis might be closer than Barbie.LOL Manstein's revenge: The rest of the post is not directed at you or anyone in particular.  As for all the smileys, You can be a serious builder, a stickler for details and even a perfectionist, but, ya gotta keep it on the lighter side and have some fun.   Raise The Roof Ouch!!! Like Anthony 2779 said:if bothers you don't read itMoony Wave. , lets not   get   into any negative exchanges. Frisbee 1. Lets play nice, have some fun, and build some awesome modelsSculptor!!! Also the name of the hobby store is Time Machine Hobbies, Its located in Manchester @ 71Hillard street,  Connecticut, right off I-84. the phone number is 860-646-0610. Like I said   earlier, the store is amazingRaise The Roof, has three stories, the first level is downstairs and features war   games,Chain Gun, the ground level floor has all kinds of models in lots of scales from armor    Tank 1to  shipsBattleship,to aircraft Parachute and  lots of civilian stuff too (cars, airliners etc..)loads of conversion kits, figures, paints, air brushes, brushes, etc, etc...
and I could go on and on! The top floor is pretty much dedicated to trains and everything that goes with them including working layouts, so coolBouncy 8   Check it out if your ever in the area. Its worth it!!! Anyway I mean no offense to anyone. I will be posting picturesDigital Camera of the 2mm Flak38, hopefully in the near future.

Keep it realBathroom Knocker and smile!!!!!
