Military Miniatures in Review?
Posted by BeltFed on Friday, February 18, 2011 3:42 PM

Anyone get this magazine? I saw a few in the LHS and fell in love with it. Personally, it has a lot more useful information for me cause there are no wingy things on any of the pages. Where is this mag based out of? opinions?

I don't subscribe, but usually pick up the issues from somewhere. I agree with you - they are GREAT.

I enjoy the magazine alot. Not too crazy about the $10 price, but it does come with a lot of information. I pretty much pick and choose with issues.

It's published by Ampersand Publications in Delray Beach, FL -- who also do Allied-Axis and some specialty books (recently on the Churchill).  All with the armor geek in mind.

But isn't this bad form to be discussing this on FSM's forum??

No doubt that it's (still) a good mag but I haven't seen it in years. Just got to be too expensive for me.

Thanks,

yeah I like this magazine too. I buy them from the book store shelf when I see them. I don't trust a subscription delivery rate

My experience with Ampersand Publishing required the use of the BBB in order to get my subscription money back for a non-delivery of a subscription. So when he claims that

"In all that time we have never failed to attend to a customer request of any kind. We have never taken money and not delivered product. If there is a problem, we take care of it. Always have. Always will."
it is a record that has required the use of consumer protection groups to maintain his high standards. YMMV

Nice magazine, if you can predict when the next issue comes out. My money stays in my wallet now, not Stansell's.

So long folks!

I agree with the guys here... I will probably subscribe FSM for a very long time and I buy other magazines at the LHS depending on what is covered.  Their subscription fees are way too expensive for my taste.

Did anybody receive the recent AMPS Boresight newsletter?  I got mine yesterday and I was blown away!  Huge improvement especially it is now in colors. Yes  I am going to extend my membership just because of this.

I had a subscription for many years.  The last two the mailing became so  sporadic, even when I contacted the publisher, that I no longer subscribe (I only received 5 magazines over the last two years' subscriptions).  Too bad as I thought it to be an outstanding magazine; well written and photographs that were really well done.  The new products section was outstanding.

I do not think it improper to discuss this magazine on this forum as MMIR was/is dedicated to a very narrow niche of modeling to the extent that it and FSM are two different contents altogether.  I have subscribed to FSM for nearly twenty years and I find it to be the best on the market - for the areas it covers, just like MMIR.
