well thank u guys. i appreciate that rob. i did a raw umber wash on the main details but are you saying i should do a light wash or a dark wash? thanks. i really do appreciate the comments and critiques guys.

Burnt umber is fine,perhaps the picture being light,I might not be able to see it clearly

looks real good !! its not one you see everyday.I cant tell from the photos,but perhaps a light wash to bring out some details ??

FOr the vinyl tires, you can just spray them matt, then weather as per usual. Pastels would definitely work out as well.

Looks close enough to me. That vehicle saw a lot of tough service through the years.

thanks guys. i had the desire to cast my own tires but i moved and presently cant find my clay... lol. anyway, not sure tigerman on the colors. they are standard fs russian paint. any ideas for weathering them?

Unfortunately, Rob is 100% correct in saying that Dragon's vinyl tires have a bad rep for splitting. Mine did about a year after completing this model... all eight of them. At least I was fortunate to have had a good successful 'show season' with mine. Turned what was one of my favorite builds into an embarrasment and it will never leave the display case again. I know that there are ways of preventing this (fool proof?) but, I will never use vinyl tires from any kit manufacturer again.

hey guys...just a little something i've been working on. hope it's liked. this is the dragon kit. i removed the grab handles and replaced them all with copper wire. i also redid the front hatches by scratching them from styrene. i would like to pick some of your brains if i could though. as you can see the tires and vehicle are not weathered...since these are the dragon vinyle tires i would like some feed back on what to do with them. should i use pastels? should i airbrush, should i do both or should i go a different route? any and all comments/critques welcome. thanks guys.

From one former Crazy 8 to another, Dragon vinyl tires have a bad habit of splitting where the vinyl meets when it was injected into the mold. If you look carefully, you may be able to see where the vinyl joined. I haven't experienced the vinyl on Dragon tires melting the surrounding styrene like Trumpeter vinyl, but that's something to take into consideration. There are a few resin tires available, but brands escape me at the moment. I know one's high end and super detailed, highly accurate and expensive. Another brand is basically a resin copy of the kit tires. Choice is yours.

I've got most of the BTR series in my stash I purchased 20+ years ago.  You make me want to dig one out.
