Battle of the Bulge King Tiger colors
Posted by sallamaa on Monday, March 28, 2011 2:21 PM

Hi,

I'm in the phase of painting the camouflage colors of my 1/35 Tamiya King Tiger. I have problems in finding the right yellow color for the tank. The instructions gave Tamiya XF-60 for the yellow. In a conversion chart the Humbrol equivalent was number 84 which seems to me to be way too dark and as far as I understand the yellow should me more like sand color. Could anybody give the most authentic Humbrol paint, or for that matter another enamel paint for the Battle of the Bulge King Tiger.

Just painted this, Tamiya Dark Yellow seems to be the most widely accepted yellow, and it is a good match. You want enamel though, which is what I almost always use too, but Tamiya made it too easy not to use.

How did you enjoy the kit so far? Picked it as my first real attempt at armor, doing the zimmerit wasn't half as bad as I thought it'd be.

There are some that call me... Nash

Hi,

Thanks for your message. I have enjoyed the kit very much. Its easy to build and there are lots of details. I have added some details though with Eduard photoetch parts and the tracks are by Friul. Now its about painting the beast. Maybe I should by the Tamiya Dark Yellow, as well

Isn't Humbrol 83 Ochre? I used to use that when I painted with Humbrol. Don't forget to lighten it as well for scale.
