Hi guys,
In case you were wondering what happened to my #4 when I posted my WIP on #5 M24 Chaffee. This is probably my favorite so far and I had alot of help from others at Marder Madness. Thank you guys!
It came with nice amount of PE and aluminum barrel.
I had to get those AM decals because I wanted to go after famous 'Coal Thief' Marder II. You will understand why...
Here's the reason why I fell in love with 'Coal Thief'... the posture of the crew leader. He looked so confident...
Another picture of Coal Thief...
It was my first attempt to do some scratchbuilding... I was under pressure to go further this time. Look at those guys in Marder Madness. It was madness!!! Saw, wooden box and radio wirings.
Bill sent me a great diagram of German radio set diagram. Thanks!
It was my first attempt putting Magic Tracks together for this kit... it came out good with plenty of help from Nate and Rob. Thank you! It was probably the hardest part...
Pre-shading method was used...
Before the mud application... I realized I shouldn't have put so much work on the wheels and tracks if I was going to put alot of mud on just like shown in the pictures of Coal Thief. Lesson learned...
I used Doog's formula he used on his King Tiger featured in February 2011 FSM. Thank you Karl! I added just little acrylic gloss 'Future' to make it more wet. At closer view you can see pulled grass...
Interior pictures of my dig...
Replaced plastic 'tube' kit part with real rubber tubes stolen from old Tamiya Flak 37. Big difference there...
Radio is probably my favorite part even tho I never used it before... I am way too deaf to use any radio.
I am still trying to figure out how to take better pictures... sorry if they didn't come good.
You know I try to include figures to all of my builds if possible to give us better pictyre of its true size. It wasn't easy finding a perfect match for the crew shown in my favorite 'Coal Thief' picture. This DML figures set was what I could find. I am still working on the figures but it has been stalled at this moment because I am having too much with my #5 build Chaffee.
Thanks for looking. Thank you for all of the feedback and tips you have shared here or in the magazine! Owe y'all ...
