Welcome to the forum Matthias! This is a great place to hang out and swap ideas and show off your work. Join us in the 1/16th Tiger group build, I'm working on the static kit with the full Aber set, Aluminum barrel and I'm thinking about getting the metal tracks now too. If you need a place to host your pictures of the build, Erock68 has a site set up and he'll add you if you like.

I would love to see a 1/16th Famo!! That would be awesome! I hope you go ahead with your plans and keep us updated with the progress when you get started.

Again, welcome and looking forward to you joining the group build!

Eric

Hi Redleg1-7FA, styrene is brobably what we call styropor or Hartschaum. Your can find such and another kind of plastic sheets in art accessorie shops, hobby shops and the big tools malls (Baumarkt, here some names : Praktiker, OBI (wan Kenobi :) , Hagebaumarkt, Toom). In such malls you can find a selection of brass tubes and sheets but a bigger offer you can find in Conrad-Elektronik Shops. They have sections for models und all what one need to build them. Different profile types (like T or U - profiles) made of brass or aluminium you can aslo find there. Hope I could help. Please let me know if you want more informations.

styrene is a plastic that is somewhat soft that can be used for making just about anything, what I would need is probably pretty thin and also some brass tubing so I can make some hand rails and storage racks.

jesus, i just figured out that i always use the wrong name to you, you are certainly wondering about when I write "to after-market" or "to multi-media". Sorry, i will make it better ...
Redleg1-7FA - what is styrene ? Tell me what you want the shop keepers to get for you and i will send this in german language to you so you can print it out and show this these guys ...
Bye and good night

I'm stationed in Schweinfurt just by Wurzburg and Nurnburg.
I'm just having trouble telling the local shop keeps that I need styrene or something to scratch build an upper haul for a project. My German isn't all that great but I can pick up ( my vocabulary is kinda small and growing ) most of what I hear.

we have 3 places I like to shop at one of which is a Mullers ( I don't have the unglout) and one is a toy store wit hthe shop in the keller , the finnal one is an actual shop but it's mainly an RC shop. I'd imagine that they can get what I want but it's a matter of trying to tell them I suppose?

Hi Multi-Media, where are you stationed, I guess in west Germany. I'm from east Germany, maybe I could tell you what's interessting for you if I would know what you are looking for.
To all Famo-freaks an additional comment to the Famo building because it hits your hearts :) . It will take some month until i'am able to show you a beginning or progress status. Remember, first my Tiger (still nobody with a big box at my door) then the Famo.
I have some books about the Famo, the 1/35 Tamiya model and the opportunity to have a look at 2 original Famos (scale 1/1) :) in Dresden, a late F3 early production and a very late F3 under restauration. If there are news i will let you know to look at my homepage (which currently shows my 1/8 RC-nitro buggy). This will be also the place where i put the Tiger stuff in.

I still have been working through the Tiger thread and maybe it will be a subject there but please let me know: did someone realize black smoke comming out the exhaust?

Bye

Hello again and thank you all for the great welcome. It's very nice to get all these replys, and some answered in german. OK lets do some correction (for the guys who wanted to know if it's right):
to Poniatowski the word is Willkommen
to Aftermarket use "im" instead of "zum", put a "es" between "Sie genießen" and it's perfect - very polite
But I don't want to be a smart ass, if i write nonsense please let me know.
To Aftermarket : Actual i would need three Famos to tow a Tiger but I think i have to do enough to build one :) Maybe later two additional Famos or a SdAnh 116 for light tanks.
But first the Tiger I, hope the guy from parcel service is coming soon ... :)
Ok good night for today, in Germany we have now Saturday since 3 minutes.

Bye
