Question for those who have Dragon Pz. Kpfw. IV Ausf. F1/F2/G (Smart kits)

Thanks to Matt McDougall for the spare tracks. Here's the question: How many track links per side to use? There come like 100+ track links per side, I want to know If I'll have enough track links to make a short run of "spare" track links for my tank. Thanks a lot in advance. Best regards.

The kit directions state 98 per side.

OK thanks... I've read many quantities... 90, 91, 99... I'll try 98, maybe one or two more, I want a track sag. Best regards.

There's some room to play as the normal range of links on a standard Pz IV hull is 98-100 links per side...and don't assume that because one side works out great at say 99 links that the other side will too. This is down to the fact that the Magic tracks don't always fit completely snug together and you can get fractional mm gaps in the links (compounded by the fact that as the glue dries, the tracks will also shrink a bit) that will add up over the whole run.

DML provides plenty of links for both sides so you will have enough (although not an enormous amount) of spares left over from both sides to allow for spare track runs. The links are 'handed' in terms of the way the track pins are molded so bear that in mind as well when deciding which type to use for your spare runs. HTH! Beer

Glad you're enjoying the links!

I just finished one run of friuls the other night (about 1/3 done with the other), and ended up using I think 95 links.

I tried 96 at first just to test fit (was building in groups of four...) and it was way too slack. So I pulled three and got this:

Added two links back - so a total of 95, I believe - and got about the degree of sag I was going for:

On the Bench: 1/32 Trumpeter P-47 | 1/32 Hasegawa Bf 109G | 1/144 Eduard MiG-21MF x2

On Deck:  1/350 HMS Dreadnought

I build the older Imperial Series Panzer IV (9044) and used friulmodel ATL-03 track and only needed 99 links ...
