Tamiya's paint range is acrylic, so you can thin it with 91% or higher isopropyl rubbing alcohol. I use Tamiya's own thinner (X-22A), it is a bit more expensve then buying a generic brand of rubbing alcohol, but I feel more comfortable with it when I use acylic paints. I use a straight up 1-1 ratio when applying my base coat. For camoflauge, I sometimes increase the ratio to 2 -1, Thinner to paint. My advice is, use what is comfortable for you. There really is no standard as to what the ratio should be. If you use a higher ratio of thinner to paint, then you will need to apply additional coats.
