Bronco Type M2 Bailey Bridge
Posted by snobrd13 on Thursday, June 16, 2011 12:21 PM

Hi,

It's been a while since I have written about my adventure with the Bronco Bailey Bridge, mostly since I had put it back in the box and left it alone.  I recently took another run at it and have completed (I think, successfully...I won't really know if I missed other booby traps until I try putting all the elements together) most of the structural parts.

This brought me to the point of attaching the girders to part H, three per segment.  The diagram on page 4 clearly shows the arrows indicating that the girder goes OUTSIDE the stop on part H, at least on the near side.  I know I should have known better than to glue anything without test fitting but I did spot glue one the four platforms.  Nope....the trusses won't fit in that configuration.  The girders must be glued INSIDE the stops on both side and the centre one by trial fitting with the truss.

I find it difficult to understand how a company with the reputation of Bronco would be satisfied with the deplorable quality of their instruction sheet.  It would seem to be the perfect way to drive future customers away from their product.

I would be interested in hearing from others who have tackled this project with any other warnings of more potential gaffes.

Thanks,

Mike

All of the mfgs. have their problems with instructions from time to time. Tamiya is the only one that I've never had a problem with. Almost every Dragon kit I've had there were issues with the instructions. They were either extremely confusing or just plain incorrect in some steps.
