My New Bronco Comet - No Resin Idler Wheels?
Posted by Hinksy on Tuesday, June 28, 2011 5:21 PM
Hi guys,

I'll get to the point as the bed is calling me!

I picked up the Bronco Comet today as a future build as it loks great but it didn't have the 4 x resin Idler wheels in the box - just 4 x plastic idler wheels insted.

Should I be looking into this - is this an issue?

Many thanks,

Ben

Are you sure theyre not resin? Ive encountered a few resin parts that look just like injection plastic.

Deffo Mikey,

On the box there shows 4 x white resin wheels on the resin block - the block obviously still needs removing.

Inside the box there are 4 idler wheels but they are are made of the same green styrene that the rest of the kit is.

I've just read one review where the guy has written about the 'resin' wheels and has said his were just normal plastic?

I'm not sure if it's a problem or Bronco have replaced the resin parts with plastic - for what reason I don't know?

Lovely looking kit though. I'll need the Armourscale Mantlet cover (a must have) and upgrade kit which isn't expensive.

I'd like to know about these wheels though!

Its possible they updated the kit to cut costs and didnt update the box cover. My suggestion would be contact the re-saler or manufacturer and ask what the deal is.

Thanks Mikey,

I've just spoken to the UK Importer (Hannants) and they have confirmed that the very early Comets had Resin Idlers but they were replaced with the more detailed plastic ones in the newer kits (my box is dated 2010 so is fairly new as far as this kit goes).

They could at least update the instructions and box art - or at least slip a bit of paper in with the instructions telling you what they have done! I wouldn't have spent the last half hour messing around if they'd done that.

I'm glad I called Hannants though - they stock the Resin Mantlet cover and Bronco workable tracks and Accurate Armour stock the general upgrade kit.

They also told me about a range of their own paints, varnishes and Thinners called 'Extracrylix' which are supposed to be the best match yet for all colours - I'm going to try them on this Comet. They also do Enamels.

Check them out:

http://www.hannants.co.uk/search/index.php?manufacturer_slug=xtracrylix&search=&type=&department=&pageID=3

I could build it OOB but want this to be a beautiful build and don't mind forking out a bit more as the kit itself is very cheap now (£25).

Many thanks,
