DML Early Jagdpanther w/zimm Done 8/16

Anthony, Anthony, Anthony, thank you for making my life easier.  I got the very same kit for my birthday last year so I will be watching you with much interest.    It was my first Zimmerit kit... it is easier to remember your firsts... like your first date, your first kiss, your first beer, etc...

I did build the Dragon Zimmed Panther G and that was a great build - nice Zim and not too 'regular'.

Any plans for AM stuff?

ZIMM OR NO ZIMM, I LOVE THE JAGDPANTHER AND WANT TO MARRY IT. 

DANG!!  I KNEW I should have waited for this to come out with zim!!   I've heard good things about the newest DML Jagdpanthers!  With a few notable issues (mentioned above) it should turn into a great build!  Can't wait to see your build up Anthony!

Cool, well actually super cool, that kit is almost €60 in the LHS, thats like loads of money.

Curious to see how the tracks are. Whether they're too long or not.

Hadn't noticed that tiger, this kit has those DS 100 tracsk. Thankfully, the un zimmed kit has indy link tracks.

I must say that I didn't notice that this came with the later two-piece gun found on the late model.

Anyone know if this kit comes with schurzen?

Good point on the gun tiger, in that case it would make it a mid production wouldn't, not that it really makes much difference.

Nope no skirts for this lassie. And the ds tracks are kinda lacking as well.

Arrghhh. Oh well. I think I got over my fear of indies with my current Jagdtiger. I found a better way of doing them. Magic tracks are pretty awesome.

I have the Tamiya kit and bought some engine grills for it. Perhaps I'll just add an aluminum barrel and see if I can acquire some Panther Magic tracks or go with the kit vinyls. I haven't looked at them yet, so not sure how detailed they are.

Malone,    Thanks for rhe heads up,no problem with rear fenders on mine though,will watch out for the front hull.Friuls are great,but I cant spring for them on every kit,besides the DS are not bad,I have used them 3 other times and was happy with results.

Tigerman,   No shurzen on this one,Panther D had nice metal shurzen with it.In the 3 other DS kits I made,only Tiger I was long,have not heard of any problems on this one.

Bish,   Box art shows 2 piece gun,but 1 piece gun is included,which is right for the early version,and I utilized it.

Just joined this forum. I am also working on a DML early JP, but the kit without Zimm, but with resin parts with battle damage. This model will represent a member of the 654th SPA with the paint scheme detailed in the Jan, 1998 edition of FSM on Page 62. The scheme was portrayed on a late version but I can't complain as this was a gift kit as well. I have seen other pictures of early versions without Zimm since Zimm was discontinued in 9/1944 so I am comfortable with it being accurate enough.

 I am going the extra mile with ABER etched details and barrel. ( I also noted that your kit box showed a final barrel rather than an early one.) My first post here is in the technique section on dealing with the extremely small PE details and mounting them before the ACC dries them to my tweezers. So any input would be appreciated.

I'll be adding some pics as I progress as well. I also have some pics of their JP from the Musee des Bindes in Saumuur, France if anyone is interested. I was there in 2003. The vehicle needs work as the tracks and suspension are in bad shape. But it's the real deal.

Coming along nicely Anthony! Panthers are right up there with Tigers in terms of the "road wheel pain" level but you can do it!

Hope you didn't glue that sprocket on, it could be an issue when you mount the tracks.

Heck I haven't had time to touch a kit in nearly a year, so my skills would be horrendous in comparsion to how great your Jagdpanther is lookin'.

Thanks,it must really be hectic if you can't even grab a few minutes here and there,sometimes when it's busy at work,it will be maybe 15 minutes either before dinner,or bed ,or even early in the am.Hope you can get some time soon !!

Got the painting and decaling done.Here are some shots,no filters or weathering yet.

Nice work Anthony. You are making much better progress than I am on my project.

Keep it up. I can't wait to see the final product!

Hope to have my project ready for the paint shop this weekend....
