Dragon Panzer IV/70 (A) complete
Posted by ogrejohn on Thursday, July 21, 2011 4:04 PM

I built this for Tigermans Panzerjager group build. It is the Dragon kit #6015 that I bought years ago. I think the kit has been reissued and I hope they replaced the plastic mesh screens with some PE screens. The build was done completely out of the box.

Very well done John and you overcame those Thoma shields. I forgot to mention if you noticed that Tristar is releasing one? I wonder what that kit will include?

Thanks again for participating.

I just went over to Perth's site and sure enough there was a review of the Tristar kit. Sadly, no PE shileds.

Bish, Thank you very much!

TD4438, Thank  you! You ought to dig it out of the stash, it goes together pretty good.

Eric, Thank you! This was the first time I had tried to put together shields like these. That's too bad the Tristar kit doesn't have PE shields. Using that plastic mesh was the worst part of the build for me.

Bill, Thank you, the CA mishap just about pushed me over the edge!

Carl, Thank you very much!

Nate, Thank you! The shields were real fiddly for me.

Saw that PMMS review yesterday. Seems the side skirts may be the only issue with the kit. But looks nice.

Bish, I saw the review as well. Looking at the template for the shields it looks like it's one long piece whereas the Dragon template is for three pieces. Cutting the material out as one long piece and then separating them into sections would be a better way to go. Wish I'd done that with mine, didn't even think about doing it that way.

Marc, Thank you!

Nice work on the older kit John, paint scheme came out nice. Yes The Jagdpanzer IV Alkett design is big, boxy, and menacing and you've captured it perfectly in this build.

One of the nicer examples of the Jagdpanzer A version I've seen modeled...I don't like the lines/look of this version but you've modeled a very attractive Jagdpanzer here...

I just read that the Tristar kit comes with wire mesh for the schurzen.

Thank you very much IBuild148!

Eric, the wire mesh has got to be better than the plastic stuff.

Ditto Roger that. Has to be more accurate.
