1st armor kit, Tamiya German cargo truck
Posted by mgh on Saturday, July 23, 2011 7:53 PM

I need to stay the heck out of Hobby Lobby!  I have just started building aircraft, but have only finished 4 kits, with 2 WIP (none so far that have come out very good).  Saw this 3 ton 4X2 German cargo truck kit clearance priced at a bit over $14, and just could not pass on it.  Trouble is, I have never done anything other than aircraft, so have some learning to do.

I can see building an auto and keeping it "clean", but have a hard time seeing myself building this without some weathering.

One of the first things that came to my mind was that I really do not have any idea what colors to paint frame, axles, springs, pedals, basically anything other than picking an exterior color.  I have found a couple of posts, and one is of this exact kit, so that helps a lot.  Any suggestions where to find reference information?

I am going to try to be patient, and gather some ideas before beginning this kit.  It looks like it will be a fun build.

mgh,,,  what truck / kit is it?         Can you post some kit pics?

Typically ground / softskin items (trucks, jeeps, cars, etc.) leave a lot of leeway in their builds.

Throw more of a "bone" out and I am sure you will get loads of advice....................

Enjoy the ride!

Is this the 1/35th or 1/48th Tamiya kit?

$15 is a heckuva good price, if this is the 1/35 Opel Blitz. Try "Opel Blitz walkaround" in google. Lots of images out there. Here's a good one to get started...

It is 1/35 scale.  Item# 35291.  Don't know if it is an Opel Blitz or not.

As you predicted, "Opel Blitz" did come  up with some very nice walk-arounds.

Thanks!
