Tamiya cargo truck instructions-help understanding
Posted by mgh on Sunday, July 31, 2011 10:06 AM

Hello All,

I have started building Tmaiya's 3 ton German cargo truck.  The instructions call for a "poly cap" on each wheel assembly, but there is no part number for this poly cap, and I can not find them on any of the sprues.  Here is a picture of the page in the instructions:

It is kind of embarrassing, as this seems to me to be an excellent kit.  I have not built very many models, but this is far any away the best fitting model I have every had, but I am stumped as to how to finish the wheels.

Is this something simple I am just missing?  The cap is needed to have the correct size to fit on the axles.

This is my first kit that is not an aircraft, and it is amazing, great detail and fantastic fit.

Thanks

The poly cars are small pieces of black rubber that fit between the wheel and the tire and go onto the axle.

Here is a picture of the poly caps from a Tamiya Pzkw Ausf.D kit on my shelf. This should give you an idea of what you are looking for in the box.

Sorry about the picture quality, as it was shot with an Iphone, but should be good enough for a quick reference.

That is them. They allow the wheels to be workable without glueing them on.

Thank you all!!

I found them. I did not know what I was looking for, and they were in one of the large bags I almost threw away.

FYI they are quite common on Tamiya kits. Originally designed to allow the suspension to rotate in their motorized kits; they have kept the poly caps so the wheels can be added after the underside of the hull or undercarriage of a truck is painted.
