Duty Driver Needed
Posted by Butz on Tuesday, January 27, 2004 11:22 AM
Hello all,
I have a few other projects on the burner but the way work has been going, they have been kinda cooling off for the last few weeks so I wanted something a bit easier. OK I wanted a quick build there I said it.
This was a fun build indeed. This is Tamiyas newer mold of the Kubelwagen Type 82.
I remember building the original Kubelwagen and MAN, Tamiya has come a long way babyTongue [:P].
I decided to built this one straight out of the box except for adding a lil damage to the right quarter fender.
The over all detail on the Kubelwagen is very well done. The only area where I had a little fit trouble was where the body side halfs meet the front quater fenders. It may have been possibly that the halfs were a little warped or it could have been just me buts as you can tell I attached em like a champWink [;)].
Other than that minor ordeal like I said earlier, it was a blast to build. Oh and yes I do have a few more of these beauts on my to do listSmile [:)].

Glad that I could share with you guys and it was not quite a weekend build. It was more like 2 1/2 weeks when all was said and done.

Hey Dwight Ta-ala,
Glad that you liked the KubelwagenWink [;)]. I also felt that the weathering was subtle but yet effective.

Keyworth,
Thank you to kindly my friend. Like I said I have a few more up my sleeve. They're on the back burner while I do some more referencing as well as getting some ideas. Know what I mean VernTongue [:P]
Thanks again.

Captain Caveman,
I built their new Jeep sometime last year. oops I forget I built three of these things so far. All I can say is that I am not done yet..!!
I just picked up the newly tooled Schwimmwagen just the other day from my LHS.

mark956,
I am glad that I could shre my build w/ you guys and again thanks for the nice compliment.

I like it a lot!

You have really managed to make the kit look real, you can actually forget you are looking at a picture of a model. That is very difficult to do. Great Job.

Don't suppose if you know if the Afrika Corps Kubelwagen Tamiya offers is also the new mould? I am after one for a diorama and if they are as good as you say....

Hey phroosh,
Thank you very very much for the kind words my friendBlush [:I]. Difficult to do ?? Just remember one thing its Mind Over Matter, if you dont Mind it, it does not Matter.
You just have to believe in yourself thats all. If I can do it, most certainly you can. Just gotta have fun in what your building. If at any point you fell that your going to make what ever that it is your building into a flying object, just walk away. Because it will be there when you get back.
Believe me, I'm still learning.
As for your question on the Afrika Corps Kubelwagen by Tamiya, its basically the same kit/detail(new tooling)as the one that I posted here. Except that it comes w/ the balloon tires instead of the regular ones.
Looking forward to seeing your build. If you have any questions please feel free to e mail at Falcon174th@aol.com or Falcon42177@Yahoo.com
