yes, I have also read that they are gas detector panels. Or  at least they held the "cards" or whatever they were. The mounts have shown up on some Panthers as well.  I've only seen them on late war stuff, I have no idea how common they were.

Very interesting, thanks for the information.

And I'm also pretty exited, can't wait for it to drop in price like Doogs was saying.

I think Doogs may be on the right track but can't say for sure...but what I can say is that I'm extremely happy to see DML producing kits with the Thoma-style schurzen fitted! Yes

I'm about as much an expert here as my dog is about P-47s, but I think I read in another thread that those are poison gas detection cards, or something?

All I know is that tank looks flippin' cool. It's definitely on my list, but I want to give it a little bit to drop in price first.

On the Bench: 1/32 Trumpeter P-47 | 1/32 Hasegawa Bf 109G | 1/144 Eduard MiG-21MF x2

What are those, for lack of a better word, 'panels' coming off the turret schurzen made of brass on this kit, I'm not sure if it's the same thing, but there's also one on the barrel?
