Nice job, I also have that kit (but that says nothing, I have all but I think 5 of Tamiya's 1/48th scale catalogue :)).

I actually built that as my first model, a gift from my uncle. It's what got me started in the hobby. I didn't paint it and it didn't look half as good. (That was a compliment Geeked)

Congats on the win, see no reason why it wouldn't win. Nice model and the base really puts it in context. Like it alot.

Very nice Darren. I love Crusaders. I'm hoping that Tamiya continues their upsizing of 1/48 to 1/35, for it would be nice to see a new Crusader in that scale.

Congrats too on the award. Well done. Beer

Tamiya 48th Crusader Mk.II
Posted by darson on Sunday, August 21, 2011 5:30 AM

Hi all, here are a couple of shots of my latest build, Tamiya's nice little Crusader Mk.II.

The kit was put together strictly OOB to be used as a bit of paint hack for a couple of new techniques I wanted to try out, namely color modulation and filters.

All in all the kit is a very easy build and was painted with many different shades of Gunze & Vallejo acrylics.  The weathering was done with the aid of Mig washes & Filters, with liberal application of wet and dry pigments to finish off.

I entered this kit in the open class for 48th scale armor at the IPMS Model Expo Australia competition and for some bizarre reason (I think the judges were blind actually) I walked away with first prize.

Thanks for looking.
