IPMSAMPSEast 2011
Posted by SSGToms on Sunday, September 11, 2011 12:11 AM

The Northeast Military Modelers Association is proud to announce IPMS AMPSEast 2011.
The 2011 show theme is "Artillery - The King of Battle".
You can download entry forms and the show flyer, along with all other show information at http://www.ipmsnmma.org/ampseast/ampseast.htm
IPMS AMPSEast is the largest armor model show on the East coast now covering two full days, featuring 80 vendor tables, 6 seminars, and our famous monster raffle along with the IPMS AMPSEast model show and contest!
Two days of hanging out in the world's best armor hobby shop, workshop seminars, viewing some of the best built models in the world, hanging out with some of the worlds best modelers, learning new tricks and tips, reuniting with old friends, meeting internet friends in person, and having a few with friends new and old at the bar in the evening. Cross the bridge in front of the hotel and choose among 40 fine restaurants and fast food. You will enjoy every moment of the weekend.
The show will be held Friday September 23th and Saturday, September 24th, 2011, at the Danbury Plaza Hotel and Conference Center, 18 Old Ridgebury Rd., Danbury CT. For attendees and vendors staying at the hotel the Danbury Plaza is pleased to offer a special show room rate. To receive the special rate, please call 203-794-0600 and identify yourself as being with IPMS AMPSEast. You must make your reservation by August 26th, 2011.
As anyone who attended the 2010 show will attest, the Danbury Plaza Hotel is a first class venue with outstanding amenities. It is also conveniently located one exit from the
Danbury Fair Mall and the Military Museum of Southern New England.
We have also worked with the Military Museum of Southern New England to make the show weekend "Open Turret Weekend" at the museum featuring re-enactors and allowing you to climb inside many of the vehicles at the museum. Friday and Saturday at AMPS East and Sunday at the museum would make for the ultimate treadhead's dream weekend!

That's quite a list! I've got 9 days to finish my super-secret summer project...if I manage to get it done, I'll be in attendance as usual. If not, then it looks like I'm going to miss my first AMPS East in about 5 years.

One correction : "You will enjoy every moment of the weekend..." [except when you look in your wallet after raiding the vendor tables for two days straight]

Back to the bench!

I always get a good laugh watching the two of you trying carry ALL those kits to the car. I'll tell you again, drop some off at my car it's closer and you won't have to lug all those kits to far.

Nope, they won't be there. Apparently their 'show' budget has been reduced so they had to set up a rotation of shows they'll attend. AMPSEast didn't make the cut this year.

But those grass matts.... mmmmmmmm nice......Big Smile

Things are actually starting to look pretty good. I'm thinking I now have a solid 50-50 chance to be done by Wednesday night next week.

Will it be "contest-worthy-done"? Hmmm. We shall see.

It's already bigger than last year and I can't believe the people that are coming out of everywhere during the Dodd Depression to come to this show! The hell with the economy, we're gonna have a kick-ass weekend!

This is gonna be a GOOD one. I'm getting emails from all over from people who are gearing up just for this show!

AK Interactive has 4 tables in a U shape and will be demonstrating AK products all weekend - you can learn to use it right there at the show before you buy it. Trust me, if you're smart you'll buy as many as you can. The stuff is amazing and easy to use.

And Marc, we do have a Vendor room survivors fund for those who spent their gas money home on a sweet piece of resin.....

You better be done by Wed Dupes Big Smile

Matt I can't wait, it will be one hell of a show. Iain will barely have time to catch his breathe after returning from the Euro Mil. show, then it's off to AMPSEast. I'll be picking him up so we will both be there playing with the AK products. I have to agree with you, the AK stuff is very easy to use and also fun to use.

I'll hand over the model for the raffle to Mike on Friday.

See you there.

Cheers

!!! How did I never know this before??? That alone will increase my chances of making the trek down by at LEAST 50%. Stick out tongue

Maybe I can finish my build at the AK Interactive table on Friday, and not enter it until Saturday morning? Hmmmmmmmmmm.

Unfortunately, Wingy, it's not even a week - 5 days is all you've got! Surprise

Which means I've only got 4...if I'm coming down Thursday will be a wash (when I should be doing washES, ha ha!).

Redleg - not done, but maybe done enough? Oh, and if the trip happens, Mia will be coming.

Marc,

I'm not supposed to tell you this, but we only let you hang out with us because you bring Mia.

Matt - I KNEW you guys had ulterior motives! Boo Hoo

Made the executive decision that enough progress has been made (or will be by Wednesday night) to enter the beast into the show...so both of us are coming down. See you Friday!

Also signed up for the AMPS Judging Certification class - looking forward to that as well.

How early can I get at the club table in the vendor room...? Whistling

Marc,

10:00 AM Friday if you sign up to judge. Those who volunteer for a judges slot get an hour of private shopping for one hour before the show opens.

Mmmmmm...private shopping. Eats

I look forward to seeing all of your work at the show, especially them arty guys.

Serious health issues have kept me away from the bench and the forum (where did O&E go? wait, never mind....)  but I will make it to the show to get inspired by ya'll guys.

Cheers to all,

James

No,no,no. You have to go to the judge's meeting and sign up at 9 AM Friday to get the magic ticket that gets you in to the private shopping hour.

Hmmmm. Have to be there at 9:00, eh? One of the more likely scenarios had us leaving the house at about 0230 to get to Danbury by 1000...not sure if I can talk Mia into getting up at 0100 to leave the house by 0130. Heh.

If one of the alternate (read: leaving Maine Thursday night) plans pans out, we should be there in time.

I'm hoping you guys have armed guards at the door enforcing private shopping hour - if I pull off this stunt I better not be fighting off the unwashed hordes! Devil

Mark, I think if you get in touch with Mike (email) to get your name on the list you won't have to be there at 9am to sign up. Correct me if I'm wrong Matt.!! Once your name is on the Judging Cert list your good to go.

Hey Matt,

Just for clarification - what about those who committed to judge via e-mail to Georg to judge, but won't be able to be there for 9:00 am (say, for example, because it is an hour + drive and the school bus doesn't pick up until after 8:00...Stick out tongue)
