Out of my research depth on this one and hoping someone can help out.
I'm building Tasca's M4A3(76)W Sherman, and I've got two wheel options - solid spokes or concave dish wheels. All of the paint profiles show the solid spokes all around, so I'm wondering...
1 - When were dish wheels used? Was it a luck of the draw thing, or were they uncommon on this type?
2 - Were they ever mixed on the same vehicle?

From the pics I have seen, the dish road wheels seem to have come into use in the winter 44/45 time period.
Yes, photos do show them mixed on the same vehicle.

Doogs: I've never been able to discern a pattern of dish-wheeled usage. I think all one can do is to spy something in a period photo.
Tom: Doogs question deals with wheels types on VVS M4A3s, not about the transition to the HVSS system as pictured in your 2nd photo. Hope that makes sense.

That's pretty much the timeline for the marking options I'm considering. Seems Bulge-ish (Belgium, December 1944...hmm...)...
Definitely one of those "wish I knew more" scenarios!
