I finally completed my LVT-A1, representing a vehicle of 3rd Armored Amphibian Tractor Battalion at Peleliu in September 1944. Overall it was an easy build with only minor fit issues here and there but, the biggest challenge was attaching all the tiny handles. The finish came out darker the expected and desired after couple washes. Gave me plenty to practice before commencing my next project.
My little production line of LVT-A4s. They will be finished as follows:
2nd Armored Amphibian Tractor Battalion at Iwo Jima 1945.
1st Armored Amphibian Tractor Battalion at Okinawa 1945.
Amphibious Tractor School at Camp Pendleton 1952.
Each demands minor tweaks, straying slightly from a simple out of the box build that the LVT-A1 was.
