I bought a box of these Joefix Studio "twigs with leaves(#113)" last week from Military Miniatures Warehouse. They look great.

Hi Rob, one of the most realistic things that you can try are small tree or shrub roots as the branches since they have extremely fine roots that in scale look like fine branches. You can get a cotton type of fabric at a hobby shop that you then pull apart to form the body of the leaf canopy , spread it around the branches. Then you can spray them with aerosol adhesive or dullcote and sprinkle ground parsley, oregano, or tea leaves onto them. It looks very realistic and if you want you can airbrush various shades of green onto your tree canopy for your finished look. Jim R

Try visitin one of your local arts & crafts stores, like Michael's, Hobby Lobby, Crafts etc. They often have faux foliage that might have small enough branches that you can use. Bring a couple articles from the kit so you can compare sizes.

I'm working on Tamiya's Russian SU-122 in 1:35 scale. Does anyone know how to simulate leafy branches without spending a fortune on photo-etched stuff? Here is the tank that i am trying to simulate:

Any and all help is/will be appreciated!
