..................What ever version of the movie the figures are modeled after the set was originally called the "Sahara" set on the Master Box website when it was first announced. My guess is the Warner Brother's legal department, or who ever owns the rights, contacted them asked for royalties or objected leading to the name change................All of the characters, from the original Sahara, are represented with the exception of the totally obnoxious German officer, they take prisoner, while crossing the desert. No great loss.
The B&W DVD presents the film in it's Original Aspect Ratio of 1.33 to 1.

I have never seen or run across the Belushi remake. And the last time I saw the Bogey version was in the early 90s so my memory is quite hazy on the never taking off his coveralls. I was wondering about the t shirt on the American tanker. But in any case a LHS has the set for under $15, so it looks like a good batch to add to the collection. There are just not enough injection plastic Allied figures out there in 1/35, although that is slowly improving. And Master Box is really doing some great ones in this area.

Thats pretty cool,I also enjoyed that Belushi movie as well
stikpusher Masterbox came out with a new 1/35 figure set that just makes you want to break out that M3 Lee kit and do a dio or vignette of the old Bogart film... http://www.mbltd.info/3594.htm

Right movie, wrong cast. This set is made to resemble the cast of the Austrailian TV movie remake of Sahara starring James Belushi.
I watched both movies a couple weeks ago to burn the Bogart version from VHS to DVD and out of curiousity ran the Belushi version immediately afterwards just to note any differences in the two.
The giveaway is MSgt. Gunn in T-shirt vs. coveralls (Bogey never gets out of uniform, Belushi spends almost the whole movie in T-shirt), Sgt. Major Tambul in a turban vs the Legionairre style cap, and the South African soldier replaced by an Austrailian (in the bush hat) in the remake.
I haven't figured out who the bearded man in the Legionnaire cap is; I don't recall him in the remake. He could be one of the LRDG troops that finally arrive at the end of the remake.
I have used the following:
For Sargeant Major Tambul, this old Academy kit has elements that can be switch around to make a credible figure, but give him an Enfiled and British gear.

I liked this old Alpine figure for Sargeant Gunn, just modifying the Thompson to a Model 1921.
To me this figure looks like Frenchie;

The set you show would have a good representation of the South African (Stegman?)

The box has many figures. How much do you think it would sell. Are they not coming out with the thirsty germans? Hah,hah,hah. I would want to have this for my Lee.
