best glue for individual tracks

I really like Tamiya's Extra Thin Lquid Cement or 'hotter' glues such as Pro Weld.

How do you apply them?

I have heard people using just a paint brush, I use a syringe.

When I assemble indy links, I use the black bottle Testors "regular" glue instead of the liquid. Assemble the links as sets of 5 at a time, then join the sets of 5 together. Gives you enough work time to get the runs together and shape/form them as you need to and also provides a stronger bond...especially if you're dealing with small track links that don't have much contact surface area to begin with.

Tamiya and Pro Weld both come with a brush attached to the bottle cap. The Tamiya brush is this 00 size pointy thing that is perfect IMO. The Proweld brush could use a trim with scissors for a better shape to attain more control in application.

sorry what I meant was where do you apply them? at the joints or anywhere on the track?

Bill,do you mean old fashion tube glue?

You'll want to apply at the joint.  Generally with pro weld you can line the tracks up together, in small groups of 5 or 10.  Then apply the glue to the joints, and through cohesion the glue will head right to the joint.  Let it sit for 15 to 20 sec and then you can pick it up and form it to what you want, either track sag or around a wheel.

On my last two sets of indies, I used the Testors glue in the pink bottle with/brush. I spread it liberally over the inside run.

Not tube glue, but similar. Here are the glues I use...the black bottle stuff on the left is thicker like "regular" glue (even though the label says "liquid") vs the thin liquid glue in the bottle.

I use the black bottle-type glue, too. Although, I use Model Masters, not Testors. I assemble the longest length first, gluing it down to the wheels, then work my way around all the wheels. Not the best method, sure, but it works. However, that means I have to prepaint the links (pain in the rump), and then re-glue with super glue.

Whatever method you decide on, each comes with its own set of issues. Try any one you want. Find one that works for you.

That might set too fast. I've heard that it sets very well.

Thanks Bill,I am about to tackle the indies on my Dak III-G and that's the stuff I was planning on using,the black bottle.

Assembled my indies last night,really worked well,only my 2nd attempt at these things.Pics soon on the Panzer III Group build soon
