I went to an armor model show and it was .. meh..  Not a single bargain at the tables.  So I went home and ordered from Dragon USA online.

http://www.dragonusaonline.com/item_detail.aspx?ItemCode=DRA6494 for $24.99

and

http://www.dragonusaonline.com/item_detail.aspx?ItemCode=DRA6542 for $34.99.

Plus a book about British and Indian late war jungle armor.

Happens.

I skipped the Chicago MMSI show this year in part due to a disappointing dealer area the previous year.

OTOH, it is fall and I'm busy again, so I may miss the Butch O'Hare show as well.

Sorry to hear the show was a bust Satch...but looks like you got some good deals via the Dragon USA sales! If you're willing to be patient in relation to new kit releases, some good deals can be had down the road depending.

Hmmmm......I wonder if its the economy, both international and stateside?  All the shows I've been to have had pretty good deals.  Maybe dealers just can't offer the discounts they used to?

I still plan on going to the IPMS show in Petaluma, CA next year.  Even if they don't have any good deals, I just love checking out all the models displayed and taking photos!

The Austin IPMS show had a plethora of bargains and twice as many vendors.  It could be the economy, show competition, or the short time difference between the two Austin Shows.

Let me reiterate, it was not the fault of the organizers.  They did a bang up job.  No criticism goes their way.

I've thought about going to that show, just for the dealers tables.  Is it worth it?

I haven't had time the last few years, but the dealers tables normally fill a school gymnasium so unless the number of dealers has dropped in recent years, I would say yes.

During years I visited, people normally walk out with arm fulls of kits.

If you drive from Iowa, you might want to check if the dealers tables have all been sold by contacting the chaper website:

I'd guess the proximity of IPMS and AMPS probably has a ton to do with it. A month apart isn't much...
