Strange Wiesel 2 Variants
Posted by RESlusher on Monday, October 24, 2011 3:18 PM

I picked up these two Wiesel 2 variants off MegaHobby's site this morning for just over $50.

Wiesel 2 "Ozelot"   and the Wiesel 2 "Recon Command Fire Control"

How did I miss these?  They must have been strictly Revell-Germany releases??

Those are some weird little tanks. But I like 'em!

Working on a TOW one now (AFV Club original issue). Very small vehicle. I've seen it on Revell's site for some time now but have not run across one.

I had to relook at Revell's site; it was released in June 2011. I know Revell of Germany has had history of working with AFV Club before. They released the AFV M88A1G that included a sprue of their own before AFV Club released that same kit under the AFV label. Also the original Wiesels appeared in Revell boxings before being released by AFV in their boxings.

Makes me think that these are once again AFV Club kits made for Revell and Revell getting first crack at them. The downside to these AFV kits is that the OD plastic is so soft it mars if you stare at it too long.

Whoah...those are neat! May have to add those to the 2 AFV Club boxings I've got with the Mk.20 and TOW. That would be a cool little collection.

Each Wiesel mentioned above are in use at BUNDESWEHR ! German Federal armed Forces, Army, parachute troops.

However due to strucural changes occured during last two decades there aren't too much of them. Now OZELOT (on same chassis) was created for AD using Stinger. Additional there are also Recce and Air Surveiilance / Radar tracked vehicles on chassis Wiesel.

I've got the OZELOT and LeFlaSys radar variants on the way from MegaHobby.com...should have them either tomorrow or Monday.
