Posted by waynec on Saturday, October 29, 2011 9:09 PM

working on a brdm-3 at5. expect to have it done for wednesday club contest. here are some other finished. the sdkfz-222 took a second at local contest, the lav-150 has been posted as a wip in this forum, the pz-2g will get a base before the next contest in february, and the japanese tank ends up going up against german armor. just another reason i am switching to artillery, armored cars and trucks. oh and boats and rr stuff.

Wow!  Very nice work!  Bow Down

I was hoping to have my M2A2 Bradley ODS finished by now; but Mr. Tamiya-san has thus far thwarted my efforts.

I might just put the Brad' on hold and start on the Trumpeter Up-Armored BMP-3.

thank you.

i've almost given up on tanks though i still have about 20 in my stash. i will finish the IIC since it is at the paint stage andi will be building either the chinese ztz-99 mbt (which i am swapping the new uparmored hummer for) or the chinese spa to put on the chinese tank transporter. got that, sam-2, and scud at contest sale. also building a BORODINO and MARKGRAF for castles of steel group build and finishing 1/72 br-52 locomotive and k-5 rr gun plus a 1/144 VIIC for the shelf queen group build. and sometthing for each monthly contest. looks like a busy year.

Looking good! Yes  222 is definitely my favorite... that explains why it brought home an award.  Artillery?  You will make some guys here happy...

i really liked the 222 too. i painted ev the whole vehicle panzer gray and then pretended i was the painter in tripoli as it came off the boat in early '41. sine i would have limited supplies and limited time i kept the inside of the turret, entire suspension system, bottoms of boxes, and wheel wells dark grey. after painting the sand i rubbed off the edges to get to the grey. that didn't work quite as well as usually i was at bare plastic BUT i had a paint ridge line and went back with thin grey and painted the plastic.

the tow cable, in the pic below wrapped around the push bar, is made from fake flower stem rubbed with steel. this is more rigid than paper hanging wire but still bends nicely.

it is interesting to look at early ww2 stuff and modern stuff. and the 8X*s are just huge.
