KV tanks in German service
Posted by Tankluver on Sunday, October 30, 2011 12:02 AM

I know theres a few kits out there of KV 1 and 2's, did these tanks ever serve in captured tank units together? Are there any pics of both types of tanks being transported on rail cars while in the same rail convoy.

Have to remember that KV-1 and KV-2 were designed for totally different purposes...the KV-1 was a main battle tank while the KV 2 was a self-propelled gun. Photos of beute KVs are rare to begin with as they weren't captured and used in large quantities by the Germans...however if you wanted to depict them together on rail cars for a dio or similar, you could easily use the scenario of them being sent back to Germany for evaluation or testing...that's why some of them pop back up again in the late stages of '44-'45 in odd places like Kummersdorf. HTH!
