Here's a picture of a real one, no zimmerit.

I don't know.
From what I have collected they where converted from G's.
And that would indicate no Zimmerit.
On the other hand I can't see the famous G chin on the mantlet and the ones I have googled have rubber rimmed wheels.
Sheet metal was welded to the hull of the Panther to disguise it.
So they must have removed any Zimmerit from the weld area.
Would they have removed it from other areas as well - why should they?
Here is a thread with from the ww2talk forum with some pictures for you;

Johan, not all G's had the chin mantlet, that came on the later models.  And i think, but not certain, that the chin mantlet came in after Sept 44, when they stopped useing Zimm.  I wouldn't have thought they would have converted much older G's. Theres were most likely G's built between Sept and Dec 44 and then converted them.

I am a Norfolk man and i glory in being so

Greg I don't think so, I can't remember which panzer wrecks has these vehicles but I can definitly say I have never seen Zimmerit on them.

Try searching out Karl Logans build of one of these it was amazing.
