Best of luck,, take some pics and      be sure to show us your trophies!!!

dupes

That category makes NO sense...interested to hear how they justify the separation. Or to find out what actually gets entered in that category?

They ended up cancelling that catagory, so they had anything with tracks in the same catagory. There were about 30 enteries in the armor catagory.

I don't see why they have put the AFV category in there. Its already covered in the other 3 Armour sections.

I am a Norfolk man and i glory in being so

Tim, the letter is vague to say the least.  Without some sort of differentiation it's all "Amor' and most of that, if not all really is "AFV" once you take out the soft skins and the artillery (both towed and SPG).  See where I am going with this?  They have to give you more info as to what they mean by AVG.  With just that alone there could be Stugs going up against 251's etc.  And that's just wrong on so many levelsStick out tongue

It will probably be up to you.  I've seen Stugs entered in AFV categories and even in artillery.

Good luck!!

That's the only distinction they made between the categories? No further description of any sort?

Is there some sort of rule for what classes as an AFV. For me, it would be anything with armour and some sort of weapon, so would includes tanks, SPG etc. So i would say yes.

Model show category question for Stug III
Posted by iraqiwildman on Friday, November 4, 2011 12:41 PM

I am going to a IPMS model show tomorrow and am trying to decide what to enter a Stug III into.

They have an Armor pre-1945 category and a Armored Fighting Vehicle (AFV) category. I am entering a Cromwell in the Armor category and thinking I should enter the Stug III into the AFV category. Split them up and hopefully win something.

Does a Stug III qualify for the AFV category???
