After looking at the scene a few times at first I was thinking it may be some type of italian tank, but there is a distinct cupola on the turret. So it may be a panzer 35t or 38, however some movies aren't well known for their historical accuracies. It may be under a net because it's not really a tank, there could be many reasons and answers.

Its is the part where the French Cavalry finds the lost squad, where the squad is fighting the Germans in the Ruins, its before the Kasserine Pass part. The tank im talking looks like it has a 47mm gun and is covered in camouflage netting
Tankluver What kind of tank is that is the beginning where the calvary comes in and the big red one soldier blows up the tank with a satchel charge?

I don't recall a French tank being in the movie. There was an Israeli M4 Sherman variant posing as a German "panzer", most likely an M50 or M51 (been a while since I've seen the movie) which were upgunned and up engined Shermans heavily modified.
The movie begins with an opening sequence with the sergeant in WW1 France when he kills a German soldier after the armistice, but I don't remember a French tank in that sequence.
By the way, "Calvary" is a place where Romans crucified people outside of Jerusalem. Cavalry are soldiers who fight mounted, originally on horse but currently on armor such as tanks. They differ from mounted infantry or mechanized infantry who used the horse or mechanized transport to arrive at the point of battle and then dismount to fight.
