M1 Abrams---Finished !

Hey thanks guys for all the critique!

Remember its 98% done.. I was planning to add some tape tiedowns and tape strapes to secure everything.

And the loaders MG is still being weathered.

Nice job Ben,,,,     and while I agree with the other posts, I too have flaws in each of my builds. There is no such thing as a perfect build.     But that is why we are here,,, to advise, share and to learn

Yeah, I've seen more people gigged here and at contests for having their rucks magically suspended off the sides of the vehicles.  It's a shame the kit makers haven't thought of this by now; but I guess they've got to cut corners some where.

Great job, I agree with every one!!!!!. I have had models 'panned' but thats why we put them up for viewing, we need our 'Peers' to put us on a better road. ( Thank God I dont build big guns )

I think the finish is very good but like others I dont like to see stowedge just placed on, they should be secured...cheers....Kenny

I agree with Rob & Mike.  We. collectively speaking, set the bar around here.  The only way we get better at our workmanship is to have a critical eye look at it.

I've got an M1A2 SEP, an M109A6 and an MLRS each waiting their turn on the workbench.  When I'm done I'll be posting pictures of them here for all to see.  I would rather have Rob, Mike & Gino point out the flaws in my work so I can correct them than have them just rubber stamp it with "Good job".

We have to take the critics' analysis with a grain of salt.  Just because Rob said someone used the wrong weapons station, as in Ben's example, doesn't make the model fit for the dumpster.  If you, the builder, are happy with it then that's all that matters.  No one here critiques to be cruel.  Well, maybe the vast majority anyway! 

Personally, I don't post a pic here unless I want to have it scrutinized.  That's the main reason why I post my WIP threads. So if you guys see something I'm not doing right or could do better let me know.  I've got my big-boy underoos on!  I can take it! 

BTW, aside from the weapons station thing that Rob pointed out I think ya did a good job Ben.     I did notice that it looks like the rucksucks on the sides of the turret are magnetically attached.  You can't see any straps!    Also it looks like the loader's machine gun is missing; but I may be wrong on that.  I do like the weathering though.  That "rained on" effect looks pretty cool.

LOL....Rob, don't ever stop! The hardest thing for an artist is to learn to take critical comments. The greatest learning experience for an artist is by critical comments.

With Rob being the armor guy who has spent more hours in an Abrams than most have spent modeling, it is an honor to have him comment on your Abrams. And trust me....if you build artillery, I will be looking at every rotating band, equilibrators and muzzle brake and like Rob I would give a fair comment.

Ben, interesting affect with the weathering, nice overall build.

Ben, overall it looks good, but you put an M1A2 commander's weapon station (only used by the Army) on a USMC M1A1.

That's a cool streaked look going on.

The tracks where the MG's are should be metal though. HTH
