TASCA 1/35 Pz.Kpfw.II Ausf.L "LUCHS" =WIP=

Well now its on to some armor.  I had this beauty sitting in the stash for a long while and finally decided to dig it out and get rolling on it.  My first TASCA kit and I have to say I am quite impressed with the detail and how well the kit goes together.

first off is the hull tub, im used to having a one piece tub but 5 pieces works for me:

sprockets and road wheels went together like a charm with zero issues adn really no cleanup:

nest was the working torsion bar suspension which I will leave functioning for now to get the wheels installed after painting, then once set I will have them glued in place:

Next starts the upper hull and sotrage boxes:

working on the turret now and some other fiddly bits.  More to follow soon.

I will be keen to see this one comes together. I have eyed up the Mirage kit on and off for a while, but not sure of its quality. Is the tasca kit still around.

Bish - I see it listed in stock on Great Models website so I assume you can still get it.

There's two different ones. I remember the second one, the 4th Div one, coming out and all of the first ones hitting the sales forums at bargin basement prices. Not that the 2nd one is better, it's the same kit with additional parts sprue that include add on armor, new commander figure and new decals. Even the instructions are the same, just a new sheet to cover the new parts.

First issue is #35001 and 4th Pz Div one is #35006 with the latter kit being more expensive than the former.

It's a beautiful kit, one of the most enjoyable builds ever IMHO and that's saying something these days. Looks like yours is coming along nicely Bob! The one weak spot IMHO was the tracks that were provided, but the idler is tensionable which is a great piece of engineering built-in for those who would use AM tracks.

Marc; Bill - thank you

Eric - good to hear from you bro, I know you have been busy.

Well moving along im still working on the turret but got the chance to try out yet another wonderful modeling tool.  THe Brass assist roller set from The Small Shop.

So what better way to try it out then on the PE grills for the PzII

Flat PE part placed on the underside of the tool called the "soft rolling deck"

choose the proper size roller

press and roll back and forth a couple of times

and you have a perfect fitting part

more to follow

wiring added to lights;

turret done:

fix applied to antenna and antenna base:

everything ready for paint:

Sure is.  Fits like a dream and goes together smoothly.  I had zero issues with the build.......other than the antenna fix.  The kit is still available online and I saw to at my LHS.

Enjoy

Eric - still playing around with the camera, should have it figured out soon.  Had to adjust the image to S2 to post directly to other sites but for stuff like photobucket I can do larger, just a paint to take two sets I guess.............LOL

Very nice Bob.  I've got one of these in the stash - I may try to start on it over the Christmas holidays, if I can finish some other projects first.
