T-55 Hybrid
Posted by T-rex on Sunday, November 20, 2011 9:06 PM

While looking up in a how to book of ''how to model the T-55'' it showed a rare but real tank that was a Hybrid of a T-55 with the turret of a M18 Hellcat.

''What!'' I thought, how can this be, why would there be a hybrid of this tank with an old AMERICAN tank, I mean why was this made. Has anyone else heard of this?

Working on: Trumpeter SU-152 (1/35) Trumpeter E-10 (1/35) Heller Somua (1/35)

Serbian tank that had leftover Hellcat from WW2, mated with a T-55 from when they (Czechosovakia) were part of the Warsaw Pact. When you lose your major arms supplier and your country's in a civil war, you make do with what you can.

There was a resin conversion for it, but most just sacrificed an M18 Hellcat since neither kit was particularly good (AFV Club or Academy M18).

My friend is actually working in this exact thing right now. He is using the Academy Hellcat turret for it. There are some good color pics of the real vehicle floating around the net too.

Er...you mean Yugoslavia instead of Czechoslovakia.

Also, I don't think this vehicle was constructed at any time during the civil war.
