T-34 metal tracks
Posted by T-rex on Tuesday, November 29, 2011 9:20 PM

Just bought my first set of metal link track, its a Friumodel set for a T-34.

Originally it was for my Tamiya old SU-122 since the rubber tracks it came with are really bad, the track mold didn't form the tracks straight and as a result are crooked. Plus I thought it was a neat first try.

After a whole day of assembling all 170 tracks (3 sets in total), i was very impress with the result as the tracks are very movable and act just like really tank track, I see why Professionals like these. There just one problem thought. THESE ARE EARLY T-34 TRACKS

And the SU-122 didn't use the model 1940, they use later waffle pattern tracks as they had more grip to them.

So My question is, Were there any account or exception of a SU-122 having the early 1940 tracks?

Although its not a big deal, I can always keep them in my stash until I get a T-34 model 1940 or 41, but I really don't want to use the kits rubber tracks.

Working on: Trumpeter SU-152 (1/35) Trumpeter E-10 (1/35) Heller Somua (1/35)

Use 'em.   Not because I know there is the exception you are looking for... because I  don't... use them because you should build for yourself and not for us.  When you post the final pics be prepared for the deluge of "wrong tracks" comments.  Friuls are too expensive to leave in a box.  Then when you but a '40 or '41 kit, buy the "wrong" tracks again and swap them out.

Yeah, thats a good idea.

And those track cost me 57$, there twice more expensive than the kit, it would be a shame not to use them.

Or you could try swapping them with someone else.  But you have to go to a different forum since you can't do that here.
