Korean Marine Pershing Tank Color?
Posted by Tiger II on Monday, December 12, 2011 3:51 PM

Hi All.  I had to put model building down for some time due to family and I've just now started to pick it back up.

I'm building a OOB 1/35 Tamiya Pershing and I need a little help on the right color to paint a Marine Pershing during Korea.  Did they still paint them the Marine Green or were they OD?

I did a search on the site and all I hit on were posts for the Army Pershings used during the latter phase of WWII.  So, sorry is this is SPAM.  If so, please post me the link and I'll be on my way.  Thanks.

There's a link to a website in this thread. Some good color shots of new and used tanks. Marines got their tanks off the same lots as the Army during the Korean War, but there will be variations on the color due to age and combat usage.

I hear you! Big Smile

Green it will be...........

The link provided definitely shows a wide variety of green/OD paint color.  I have always heard there was a big difference in how the OD faded.

My question centered around if the Marine Corps was still painting their equipment Green instead of OD during the Korean conflict.  From the shade variety in the picture it looks like just about any color of green will work for either as long as it's "sort of" close.

I should be able to paint the tank in the standard Marine Corp Green.  Just to break up my collection of OD colored tanks.
