Your finished ARMOR builds for 2011
Posted by deattilio on Wednesday, January 18, 2012 10:51 PM

I only have two still in the home, I gave away the others I had completed.  The M60 is an old Esci kit that wasn’t too difficult aside from the tracks.  The LVTA1 is the newer Dragon offering.

There are some impressive builds in this thread – wow!

Mark, I should be at IPMS this coming Friday. I got sick the day before last month so I was in no shape to go that time. Unless something unforseen happens this week,I will be there. Sorry to hear you will not make AMPS today. I guess I will see you at the next one I can hit in the Spring. And gawk and the next bundle of builds you  bring Wink (Guys I am telling you, he can not show up to a meeting with a mere two or three buildsWhistling)

RBaer, K-Dawg, Tigerman, thanks! You guys rock!

RBaer, You'd be surprised; my "army" has 583 vehicles already completed in it!

Carlos, thanks! It's always great seeing your posts. I am surprised I didn't go blind either. I guess that's why I took five days to paint that thing!

Sorry Carlos, I'm gonna miss AMPS today. It's all gonna be about the  Tiger Group Build anyway and I'm not participating in that. Besides, with everything going on at Hobby Day, I'll be needed there more. I do hope to see you at the IPMS meeting though.

Rbaer, Yes that Sherman was featured in the Reader Gallery this month. The M-47 was an abandoned Croat tank recovered by US peace keepers and returned to the US (Texas) for a museum. The photo in front of the ship was taken as it was being loaded aboard said ship bound for the States.

Wow,  " Duke's army"!  Nice builds.

K-Dawg, what's the story on the very nice M47, and didn't I just see the Sherman in FineScale?

Mike, thanks! It's good to know I can still amaze people. I'm so glad to have completed that train.

Tigerman, thanks! Glad to see I'm remembered! LOL!

Your wish is my command, here are some more detail pics of my armored train.

There it is in it's entirety. This model gave new meaning to the words "short-run kit". It took four times as long to clean the parts, fill the gaps, and sand the seams and filler than it did to actually build it. It took a week to get all the wheels aligned so they all sit on the track (just recently found I have two more wheels to fix), and it took five days to hand paint the camouflage pattern on it. Overall time working on this kit stretched a year and a half. That is the longest I've ever worked on one kit!

I have a friend of mine who is working on a seven-foot long by eighteen-inch wide display base for this train, complete with a lockable cover. Once it is done, it'll be 'landscaped' and the train will be displayed on it. So stay tuned, more pics of this train will be forthcoming.

I have been a bad boy and not posting comments. But I have to say some very nice builds from everyone here. Duke, as usual you never cease to amaze me.....it is a bit more than the track of the month club!!!. The train looks awesome and could only be done at that scale.

Impressive.....most impressive

Wow, some amazing and incredible work here! Tigerman, this was a brilliant idea starting this thread. My apologies for not seeing this sooner. I seldom come here anymore, I just peek in now and then. You're right that I don't show my work here anymore; before anyone can see it and comment, it is usually pushed to the second and third pages!

Anyway, here are my armor models I finished in 2011, in addition to the one ship and sixteen aircraft I finished as of the 30th of December. They are listed in no particular order. All are in 1/72 scale except the one:

Tamiya 1/48 scale Tractor. I built this for a friend's wargame army.

M2A2 Bradley with ERA Early version

M2A2 Bradley with ERA Late version

M2A2 Bradley

M2A2 Bradley 2006

M3A2 Bradley

M6 Linebacker ADV

British Warrior IFV uparmored

German Afrika Korps Volkswagen

German Leopard Bridgelayer

Three US Army Dump Trucks. They were in the stash so I decided to build all.

US Army Ford G8TA Tractor Trailer

US Army Studebaker Semi-truck

British Bedford QLD Truck

British Bedford QLT Truck

Canadian Chevy 15CWT Truck

Russian GAZ M-1 Army Staff Car

US Army M-113 A3 APC

US Marine LAV AD Air Defense variant

US Marine LAV M Mortar carrier

US Marine AAV7R Recovery Vehicle

Italian AAV7P Amtrack

German MAN 7-ton Truck

German MAN 10-ton Truck

MACK Tanker Truck

Russian Ural 43207 Command Vehicle.

Ford US Army Staff Car

US Army Armored Jeep w/.50 cal

US Army Armored Jeep w/bazookas

Russian SA-2 Guideline SAM

And finally, my Magnum Opus: my Panzerzug BP-44 Armored Train. The whole train. It is six and a half feet long.

That's all the armor I finished this past year. I'd been slowed down by the armored train, so hopefully, I can pick up production this year.

Tigerman, thanks again for posting this thread. Happy New Year and I apologize for coming to this so late.

Well, I didn't finish much this year. Between selling one house, buying another and starting a new job, my model time has been severely cut. I have worked on a lot of stuff but only finished 2, one of which was started in 2010...

Here they are.

SF, Tigerman, thank you both. Keep in mind that I really am slow, fully half of these were started in years past, just "finished" recently........

Pics of the late Tiger:

I did a build log on this one a few months ago, don't have time to dig it up at the moment, but it has lots of progress pics.

RBaer,

Excellent results, great year!

If my count is correct you produced just over 1 tank a month to achieve 13 completed!

I must request some more pictures of the King Tiger (H) production.

Really like the stye and realism in your work!Yes

Great builds, all! No shortage of talent here at all.

Some pics of mine, and I'm including stuff that may still need figs and/or a base but the vehicle itself is complete.

Tamiya/Maquette T34/85

Tamiya/AFV Club M4, started a couple of years ago but finally weathered this year.

Dragon M4 composite, from the old Firefly kit, same timeframe as above......

Tamiya's M26, for a 1946 "What if" GB, taht I think was this year, not totally sure.

Tiran5 from the Trumpeter kit, this year?

Kit bashed M4A3 early reman, painting just finished.

Tamiya M41, AFV Club tracks, another multi-year project.

I pulled this off the shelf, re-did the turret and added Friuls this year, something I have planned for several models I've "finished" in years past.

M4A3 76 from the Dragon kit, Lend-Lease

Magach 6B Gal, mostly Acad but lots of scratch. This one is the most extensive build I've done all year.

Tamiya Tiger2 P, my first Zim effort, with Friuls.

Bashed M4A2, with an old Tamiya Grant commander, just to see what he looked like up there....

And last (really) Tamiya's 70's release Tiger 2, lots of re-do, Friuls, as a very late war example.

Ther are a lot of models here, but most of these were started in years past and came back to the bench this year. My "resolution" at the start of 2011 was to finish shelf queens, and I got about half of them done.

I think.

Hi, right you are. However due to the fact that I don't have an own HP or anyother place to "insert" my photos it isn't possible to show those mentioned models... so far as I understood what is written here in FSM (yes, my knowledge of English language might also be a little bit too rusty)

Nevertheless if you are within "facebook"-community you will see some of those mentioned model-photos:

http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.126852840744393.24730.100002590329984&type=3#!/photo.php?fbid=138963099533367&set=a.126852840744393.24730.100002590329984&type=3&theater

and those are older ones ...for example:

I'm always late........Embarrassed

First off - GREAT, GREAT builds by all!!  I'm humbled by the quality AND quantity of the armor and AFV's displayed!  My own tally is pretty small, but I still managed to spend WAAAY more time on them than I should have! Propeller

Dragon 1:35 Hetzer Early for Eric's Panzerjager GB

Monogram 1:35 M48A2 Patton for razordws's Weekend Madness IV GB (of course, not completed on time!)

RPM 1:35 T-26T Artillery Tractor for kermit's Ostfront GB

Bronco 1:35 76.2MM F22 Divisional Soviet Gun also for kermit's Ostfront GB

....and both together (naturally!) oops!  I broke off some of the sighting mechansims right before the photos and lost some parts Black Eye

I actually completed five builds, which is great for me (did 5 in 2009, 0 in 2010 and not anywhere close to 5 in the past decade and a half before that).  Lots of shelf queen starts though!

-Pz 35(t) (CMK)

-BT-5 (Italeri/Zvezda)

-BT-7 (Tamiya-this was a weekend build over two weekends including scratch-built interior)

-T-26 command version (Italeri/Zvezda)

-BA-6 Armored Car (Eastern Express)
