Has anyone here purchased this yet? I have had a tough year and am considering treating myself to this.

I don't think it's been released yet. Great Models site says the first week of January.

I talked to my friend at the local Hobby Town about this a while back. I believe he said the release date in the US has been pushed to Feb. Hobby Boss admittedly pushed it from November till about Feb in order to allow the Asian model shops to sell more of them. Unfortunately you can buy them AND have them shipped to the states cheaper than many LHS can sell them. Many people have not waited and are getting them over seas it seems. Apparently they're selling like hot cakes and rightfully so at well under half the price of the resin alternative.

The local shop got them about two weeks before Christmas, they ran €114 here. I looked but didn't bite, it's too big, but that said its beautiful. Should keep you busy for quite some time.

I have the kit. Yes, us Asians are getting them first. I'm working in Beijing for long term and the local hobby shop here got two of them for about  equivalent to 100 bucks. I'm not gonna touch it. Too big (Well over 3 feet long when assembled), takes WAY too long (over north of 100 parts, and that's not including all the vinyl hoses and PE parts) and don't have the time (over 8 different models waiting to be finished plus a new born baby = me have no time for other model). I also wrote a piece on what to watch out for when assemblying this model, but it got misplaced. Will try to find it.

On the Bench: Man, Choices, Choices...Where to start. But trying to close up shop on the Trumpeter F4F-3 (Early) Wildcat. On the Stash: Trumpeter's TBM-3 Avenger, Revell's C-17, Trumpeter's 1/32 Typhoon, Trumpeter's SBD-3 Dauntless, and waiting for my BR-86 to arrive In the "Spare Parts" Heap: Dragon's 1/32 P-51D Mustang Early Version (Worst kit I ever saw. Wasted $35 bucks! Ohh Well)!!!
