How to fix a machine gun barrel?
Posted by Kentucky Colonel on Tuesday, December 27, 2011 4:56 PM

I discovered that my 7.62 machine gun barrel was broke in two. I have both pieces but is there anything I can do to make it look right? I'm over in the group build of the M1 Abarms. I am almost finished and I saw this a little while ago.

The only thing I have is another 50 cal but I doubt it would work.

I just might put it on broken and leave it as is.

Hypodermic needles work excellent for replacing styrene MG barrels. Anneal with a lighter to heat damage the SS, it looks very convincing painting then is not necessary.

If the parts are styrene - how about glueing it with lacquer thiner, then after it dries well, a little sanding, then repaint - that should do it IMO. If the parts were resin or else, I'd take CA glue instead. In such case, I'd still moisten the mating surfaces with lacquer thinner - CA tends to work beter then. Good luck with the fix, have a nice day
