Finished - Dragon T-34/85 Mod 1944
Posted by DoogsATX on Wednesday, December 28, 2011 3:32 AM

Sneaking one more completion in for 2011! Started this T-34 back before the move and I've been futzing with it for the past few weeks alongside a Tamiya 190. Aftermarket includes Friul tracks and Archer transfers. Paint is WEM 4BO Green, with weathering courtesy of Winton & Newton oils, MIG pigments and a #2 pencil.

Thanks for looking!

That looks really good to me. I'm not an armour practioner at all but have some kits in the stash. This tank is a bit of a sentimantal favourite after making up the Airfix 1/76 one when I was a youngster. The detail & realism you've achieved is well out of my league.

Im a dyed in the wool tread-head, and that is one smokin hot t-34. The tracks and weathering on the lower hull is top notch!

Thanks guys! Steve - I definitely prefer the /85 to the T-34/76 looks-wise. The bigger turret and gun are much better proportioned on the hull. But then I feel the exact same about upgunned Shermans and Fireflies. And 1/35 offers way more detail possibilities than 1/76!

The clear lence and the Fruils make it pop Stick out tongue

That looks great Doogs. I like the weathering and it's refreshing to see Russian armor not all beat to a pulp.

Nice way to finish off the year Doogs! Beer My only minor comments would be around the spare tracks on the glacis...could just be the lighting but the orange/rust finish appears too uniform and bright, maybe tone them down a bit with a darker wash or dry brushing? Like you, the 34/85s have always appealed more to me...definitely have that brutal/effective design going for them!

Hi Doogs :  )

really diggin the T-34...my personal favorite ...I agree with wbill about toning down the spare links, but all in all a really nice, accurate looking model, and the color looks right on to me.

forgive me for posting my work on your post, but the spares should look a bit more like this: (tracks are high in alloy and do not rust as easily as say cast iron or plain steel)

great work man YesBeer

They're actually a lot more varied in person...not sure if maybe something happened with the color correction, but I agree they're a bit too rusted out. Next time I've got the pigments out I may pull it off the shelf and see about darkening them up a bit. I bet Russian Earth with a dash of gunmetal (for metal goodness) would do the trick.
